Great report! I've been dreaming of riding to Morocco for a long time. You just made it worse! Thanks!

Interesting country.
and doing it with a 2 wheels vehicule !

I'm wondering if this tree was not at the edge of a dry lake and before a deep sand climb ?
One of my favorite place to rest

I don't know where is this tree, but pretty sure it's responsible of the puncture ( thornbush ).

Eric back in Morocco within three days ( it seems that the weather has been very bad last days and will be next days, Inch'allah)

No you must be thinking of someplace else, this was a bit less than midway between Merzouga/Erg Chebbi and Zagora. There were two dry lakes further on but it was mainly flat country, so no real climbs.

Excellent Report

I think I will add this ride on my things to do!

Muy buenas fotos, excelente calidad y montaje! Realmente siento curiosidad por el perfomance de la 660! We don't get those bikes here, neither the Twin!

Gracias por el reporte y continue enviando fotos y comentarios!

New pictures

I just got my hands on a bunch of great new pics and have added them to part 1+2, part 3 is still a work in progress.

Part 3, back into the mountains

Leaving Zagora after a good night’s sleep and a Moroccan omelet breakfast we head north on paved roads. The Famous Draa Valley, which impressed me a great deal in 2006 is now underwhelming compared to all we’ve seen.

Lunch in Agdz

This thing was parked out front where we had lunch in Agdz. My kind of RV, I mean what more do you really need, other than a rack with a couple of dirt bikes on the back? The thing was discreetly equipped to the teeth, with all the necessary equipment to get a beast like this through the outback stowed under the box.

No pictures!

Dust laden headwind through boring landscapes as we eat up the miles northbound from Agdz to the beginning of the piste in Anzel. Not a trip highlight. Other lowlights around here include Martian landscapes and a nickel mine.

We finally turn off the main road Anzel, the road is paved for the first few kms.

We gain altitude and things just get better and better. I had been a little nervous, while planning the route I just picked this piste off the map because it looked fairly promising and went near where we wanted to go. I really had no idea if it would be any good.

Seems I might not have a revolution on my hands after all. The guys placed their trust in me and my route and I aimed to please.

The Anti Atlas Mountains off in the distance.

We decided to finally get a group shot.

Missing: one Michelin 750 map, last known whereabouts here.

Here things went from graded gravel to real mountain track.

Village

Things got a little technical but we were loving every minute of it. Daylight was fading fast, and we still didn’t know where we were sleeping, we didn’t care too much though, as long as it wasn’t in the high altitude.

Town at sunset.

The colour coordination between mountain and bike is no accident.

New town same sunset.
