Is my NX650 transmission binding? [video inside]
**previously added to garage, added to thumpers as it is more relevant here...
It's doing this all the time in 2nd and 3rd gear mostly at low RPM's and especially noticeable when engine breaking, but even when accelerating. In the video when it starts binding up I pulled the clutch in. Any ideas anyone? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. |

Wheel bearings shot? Or is it the tranny that's doing it?

Divide and conquer.
Pull the chain (or just get it off the sprocket) and see if the binding is in the wheel, or the trans. Or the chain itself. Dave |

I've had something similar happen with a loose chain.

Here's another one i took after popping the chain off... almost a little over 1/8" movement in here... is that normal?
Also when I put pressure on it, feels like somethings catching.... |

It's Tear Down Time
Wish I had my Super Man glasses on so I could look inside your engine. But they are out for service.
Anyway you look at it it is time to pull the engine apart to get to the root of the problem. You might start pulling the clutch cover off and seeing what the counter shaft is doing on the right side of the engine. We can see what it's doing on the left side. My guess is the right side bearing took a shit thus allowing the shaft to move to the right. I would stop running the engine before something that is floating around in there gets into something that will not like it. See Big Bang Theory. ![]() ![]() ![]() But it was time for a rebuild anyway was it not?? 675cc , cam, the works...

I did a complete tear down, had to replace the shift spindle. Everything was bagged and labeled so there were no left over parts. Don't know what I did wrong but something wasn't done right.

Turns out there were 2 spacers left over after the rebuild, after some detective work we located, and after a tear down, reinstalled said spacers....
pictures below. (spacers on each side of the right cog) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() only took me 2 months...
