This is my old stomping grounds. Actually my father grew up here and I remember seeing pics of him holding the propeller up before they turned it into a monument. Oddly enough I never went up there myself but I spent alot of time running around the back roads into the camps and cabins on my old XL185S. Many of my family are currently working at the quarry.

You might be interested in our ride report about a recent off trip we took in that area, in that case.

i know exactly where that trussel is in your pictures and ive done that loop more than once... and then some. ive gone to many of the ponds off the beaten path. its a beautiful run you have to be really careful of the blind turns.

Natnewt...

I've spent a lot of time riding on the Bonavista Peninsula, too. Especially considering that I'm a city boy (St. John's born and raised).

The Bonavista Peninsula is one of my favorite areas to ride, both on road on my V-Strom, and off road on my DRZ. I've ridden the entire 150 km trail from Clarenville to the town of Bonavista, numerous times. And have taken countless dayrides from St. John's to the Bonavista Lighthouse and back, on my DL650.

When I retire I'll probably buy a little place in the Trinity Bight area, or maybe the Amherst Cove area. I just can't get enough of it up there.

You were lucky to have grown up in such a great location.

Here's a bunch more ride reports from the Bonanvista Peninsula, from over the past couple of years...

St. John's to Random Island & Burgoyne's Cove

George's Brook to Port Rexton (Off Road)

St. John's to Kings Cove

St. John's to Bonavista

When I'm not up that way on the bikes, I can often be found hiking the region with my lovely lady. Here's a report from a hiking trip we took in the Trinity Bight area, just this past summer...
