On a carb, it'd be a different circuit for different throttle positions and I'd say a jet is clogged. What is there that is analagous with FI?

Imagine this car raised about four to six more inches with BF Goodrich Trail T/A bias ply light truck tires under it, in full race prep, roll cage and all.

Is the new tank cap vented...?

Try opening the cap and then trying a hill that gave the aformentioned symptoms to see if changes anything.

nope, no carb, no jets to clog.

new cap is vented, and the vent seems to be patent. When we took off the gas cap, no air hissed out. on the other hand, nothing to lose by trying this....

does it do that same thing like it's starving for fuel when it's on the stand? or does it only happen when under a load?

My voltmeter needs a new zener diode. Is there a local electronics supplier around other than radio shack? Any suggestions would be great.

These guys in Portland have all kinds of stuff. Don't know if they have what you're looking for, but it might be worth a call.
