Prolly lots of D/S roads on the island huh...?

tourist articles call the "main" road "rough" which I take to mean dirt. There are only 250 full time residents. GE shows plenty of side roads but I think a Wed-Mon stay would include a lot of hiking, maybe renting some kayaks. For big bucks there would be salmon fishing.
Big question right now is fuel. The port town has fuel but I think some of the sport camps must have some for sale. At 140 miles one way even a KLR would need extra, not counting any side trips...
Now owned by Quebec and managed by their park system, it was for a long time the largest privately owned island in the world...

Yesterday I discovered my wiring in my apartment gets some very strange readings. Today I discovered that 90% of the outlets have no ground and reversed polarity.

I did a bunch of research on Anticosti. If I hit the lottery, I'm going. I found a good article article about a couple who had a Land Rover ferried over, I assume at horrendous expense. They went through a passel of tires. Supposedly, there are plenty of roads that are worthy of exploration, but the local gravel is made of broken bottles, nails, and flint shards, or something very like it. This appears to be a major issue.

I think with an IMS on the KLR and a couple of Rotopax cans, one could run to where the the roads stop and get back to Port Menir. From what I could find, there are no roads that traverse the entire length of the island. They mostly peter out short of the eastern coast near the mouth of the Salmon River. I think this would make many ADV trips in North America look like kid stuff, for rareness, remoteness, and and logistical difficulty. Someone's gotta do it and post a RR.

I found some riders who were there on RTs a couple yrs ago who will give me the inside story after the holidays are over...

mostly it seems some of the CAD designing didn't make the drawers look quite as big / deep / awkward on the computer screen as they turned out to be in real life. hence the on-the-fly redesigning.

I think it was the rack of 29" x 24" x 6" <> 10" deep drawers that spooked him.

amazing how big a 100ft conveyor is that fit so nice on a 19" screen....

in my internet imagination I thought maybe the drawers were getting smaller and smaller......for a little break maybe a quick walk thru the plastic storage bin area of walmart/staples would give a new perspective on storage ideas

May the new year bring mud in your tires, bugs in your teeth and believable lies to tell around many a campfire!

Happy New Year to all!
