Over the winter I have on a daily basis evaluated my strength, stability/walking, breathing, and ability to talk and swallow. I then match this against the number of days left before I leave to participate with my family in an ALS fundraiser in North Carolina(our maine team has raised over $6.000), after which I have been planning to go for a ride about in the southeast. The good news is the day has almost arrived. Mrsstromsurfer and I leave Thursday to start the drive down. The bad news is that the doctor says he does not recommend I go for an extended bike ride, wife is apprehensive about it, kids are concerned, mom and dad think I’m being stupid.
So after much soul searching…………………I say
I’m going fucking riding.

Mrs SS will fly back on the 18th (somebody has to work). I don’t need to be back until may 5th.
Link attached below to a general route I plan on following. Back roads and as much gravel as I can find, and as always stealth camping whenever possible.
Life is good and I am a lucky man.

Nice Loop!

Nice Loop! Don't miss all the roads in the middle of it...

Have a great trip! We'll be down in East Bend, NC April 29 for a week or so. Maybe I'll see you on the road!
