Hey Tinman, I have been meaning to chime in on the heated grips conversation, I have Oxford heated grips on both the KLR and the Vstrom and I am more than happy with both of them. They are nice and toasty and I have no issues with the size of them. Probably not much larger in diameter than the factory grips were. I have also noticed no issues with heat syncing on the aluminum bars on the V or the stock steel on the klr. of course as always YMMV

Thanks for chiming in. I have something like the Oxfords on my DL1000 and when I was riding on Sunday I was imagining them on the DR650. And I think the grip size would be less of a problem for me than most - with my meat-hook-hands and all. My thought initially was more in line with "What if I wear out the grips" or if I drop it it on a trail or something, I would have to replace the whole unit. In reality, I'm betting that I wold be hard pressed to "wear out" the grips if they are anything like the ones on my DL... and if I wreck THAT hard on a trail (the bike has barkbusters for heavens sake) I probably have far more to worry about than replacing the heated grips!

Lets just say that I am vacillating wildly at this point, but we are closing in on the season where warmer hands are not a real problem, now aren't we.

Stating the obvious...when used with 'Bark Busters' the grips need the ends punched out and the throttle side can't interfere with the bar end mount. I assume this won't be an issue with them.

Not an issue with them at all...and my KLR has seen more than one trail side crash and the grips are fine..

Nicely ground pads Kaw. My day off was probably not as high speed, but not for lack of trying.

Here's one pic from the day. Overlooking Rangeley from afar.

Pirelli Scorpion Rallies.

I'm not sure about the back (although after looking at it I think it will be pretty good on the street), but the front has the bite I'm looking for. I'll let you know how they go after theothersean drags me around in the woods on the WHACO ride.
