LOVE my DragonFly! not the lightest or smallest, but it's the one I reach for when I think I might need BTU's! I also have it predecessor - the XKG. THAT sucker IS a jet engine, and sounds like it too, but boy can that thing heat things up.

Someone want to explain to me why anyone would want these !?

Friend of mine says this is what he wants. My thought is zero protection.

I'm trying to be open minded but its not working.

Cool buckle over the arch?

BTW, does this mean we get to reopen the whole boot discussion again?

well, now that you bring it up ...

Replace my worn but loyal TCX Adventures ... or go with the unknown (to me) Sidi Adventure?

Only thing the TCX lacks is a solid ankle, other than that they are great.

Well I can you that Curt wears them, you do not know how hard it is to get a kid to wear the gear and to be honest .... I rode with a pair of frye boots and a leather jacket from Howard's for quite a few years in my younger days ( still have/wear the Fryes, circa 1978) that said, any type of protection is better than none at all ! Now if I could get him to wear a good jacket I would call it a success. I can say that I have never seen him ride without a helmet, when he started riding we told him we would buy any safety gear he wanted.... Those boots were the 1st thing on the list.

Dude! Seriously? The cool strap with buckle rocks.

ok, not so much. What does he want them for? Hiking? Certainly he doesn't expect to use these while riding. That would be silly.

I here ya there Tim, I consider it a win that Nathan will not ride without a helmet...but as for the rest of the gear we where...not likely. I figure like with anything when raising a child the best I can do is lead by example...and I have not always set the best examples. But like I said at least he always wheres a helmet and typically wears a Joe Rocket jacket and some sort of work boots. I think jeans are a must for him as well.

He is really good about dirt boots when off road and is talking about a compression suit and new helmet this year..I think I may just buy a suit and give it to him..

A flair for the dramatic .....

Litening to channel 6 this morning to a woman that should be in hollywood not Maine.

"It is REALLY REALLY piling up out here ... as you can see (camera goes to her foot where the snow is not even over her toe) the roads are going to be treacherous"!

Then she points out what NOT to do as she points out that a "truck" (little twinge of disgust) left the parking lot by driving over the sidewalk.
