Can see you're moving about as fast as I am today. Guess I'll go cut some new mop boards and paint em, eventually.

I am curious if the day will come when PB will quote a post without deleting half of the code require to present it properly?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Where do you guys usually go for rides?

My Son's first bike was an XT600. Fun, FUN bike to ride! Was kinda bitchy to start, but once you got the recipe it never failed us. I kinda miss the kick start (in a romantic, nostalgic kinda way - Right up until I remember the kicking and jumping and huffing and puffing on those couple of occasions when she "had a headache" and nothing was going to convince her to come out and play)

Enjoy!!!

I'm already having a blast trying to start it. The PO started it just fine, I'm doing something wrong. It needs carb work too, instead of rebuilding I'm looking into the 660 raptor conversions. With this new snow it seems like I'll have plenty of time to tinker before riding season starts.

Starting magic. You can feel the piston come up to top of the cylinder. Pay attention to that first. Once you have that mental image of it going to the top and then over tied to the kick lever go ahead and set up for a start.

Push just a little more on the kicker and then release it. What you did was to push the piston just past tdc. Now, give it a good follow through kick.

Reset the piston to just past tdc (top dead center) and give her another go. Some bikes around here have caused people to go buy another with a starter.

As far as riding goes, we're all over the board. Sometimes it's just trails, sometimes it's trips around the state involving a mix of tar, dirt roads and some trails.

There will be some rides this summer announced here and they'll be for bigger bikes like yours. Stay tuned and you're welcome to come along.
