When all they do is go out and hammer on the bike I am not the least bit impressed.

This guy however is quite impressive.

It's legal!

Of course, all the lights died as I pulled back into the driveway. Apparently the fungineers at RMATV felt a 1/2 amp fuse was enough to run the horn, turn signals, tail and brake lights.

After leaving Portland Friday around lunchtime I hauled ass to make sure I made it to Mt. Washington before the gates closed at 6pm only to find out they they had closed it to bikes for the day. Apparently a few bikes had gone down due to the mud up top. Despite my attempts to convince them of my mud riding skills and showing them how knobby my tires were I was denied entry and was told to "just come back tomorrow". Sadly my plans didn't allow for such a thing. If I'd known you guys were going up that early I would have attempted to invite myself.

Well I made it.....kind of. Traveled almost 1,600 miles but the bike only went 1,450. Great adventure, beautiful country, and amazing kindness of strangers. The Ural rumbled along quite nicely. No highways, no tolls, no traffic all back secondary roads. Basically followed the mountain ranges right on up through...blue ridge mountains, appellation mountains, allegheny mountains, great smokey mountains, adirondack mountains, green mountains. Somehow I actualy missed the turn to Maine, and ended up 30 miles east of Montreal. Sorry about no updates and not many pictures.....excuses later. Also, I wussed out on camping......more excuses later. It just really difficulty moving and after an incident alone and away from the bike and could not get up.....even more excuses later, i decided that riding and traveling was more important to me than camping, so from then on it was cheezy hotel/motels. Between riding and navigation, I was just to beat to do much more then just checking in with family, and some writing in my journal, which at the risk of exposing myself to ridicule and criticism, I will at some point morph it into a RR, and post excerpts from it over in Hacks.

Quick check of Maine Thread shows folks out riding and enjoying the days. . Good to see you boys out spinning your wheels.

So glad to see your update Mike. I must admit I was a little worried about you. I made it home just before midnight last night. A grand total of 2122.8 miles and I'm guessing about 700 of that was off road/dirt roads. I'll post pics and a ride report a little latter but I'm really glad to know that you made it home safely.

Another great adventure, the likes of which most will never experience.

Yeah, very sad. I have a friend who's Aunt/Uncle lost their house in that. That was a very nice little breakfast shop.

Great to hear from you, MC!

Think we saw your rig Saturday evening in Gorham, NH. We were just setting out on foot scouting for supplies out in front of the motel. Went by on a ramp truck. Wondered if it was your rig...right after I determined it wasn't Poacher Bob's (no flame job).

Welcome home! Looks like one heck of a ride! Thanks for posting.

just a little check in from Torrent River, NL

having atime on the Rock...went to Cox Cove and took the dirt road back to Hughes Brook Rd and up and over to Trout River. Awesome scenery up the North Pen to Burnt Cape and overnighted, went to chat with the Vikings and over to Goose Cove and grabbed a couple pics of a iceberg. Back thru Main Brook and the little Resource road down over Salmon River and back on highway to Torrent River for tonight.....then on the Big Falls in the morning...

1512 happy miles so far.....
only had some light rain leaving Moncton last Friday so most of the ride to ferry was nice....smooth sailing to PaB and landed in fog which went away in a couple miles and so all sun till some overcast today with rain tonight clearing in the morning.....

Cool!

I could only hope that I would choose the same path if I were you.

Looks like a helluva good time!
