Stuff? Sidestand relocator at minimum unless there had been a secret update that I've had no reason to research. Cheap insurance. One of those things all of us are tempted to risk but if 'it' happens to you the pain will be great.

My personal opinion is from there you could ride the piss out of it but if you insist...

Depending on how deep into the 'off road' you're going to go maybe a skid plate. Really deep, there is a particular skid plate you may want (I may be thinking SE, though) so it doesn't stuff the oil tank into the radiator.

Those handguards may be the plastic ones. I've tested mine and they are rather robust but you may want something with metal in them if you're 'going in'.

Windscreen? Try that one first. It may work for you. If not, there are several options.

1) get used to having head in paint shaker

2) this

3) something else

If you're thinking 2-up at all - and there's no reason not to from the bike's standpoint - a top case or something to keep the rider on when you nail it.

Most everything you'd need done on it is covered here in the H.O.W.. Maybe one of you smaht people can tell me a good way to save that 'as is' onto my computer in the event someone pulls the plug on it one day. Sounds like you've already did some reading, though. There's a number of tricks out the there to speed up the oil change process. Some are pretty low tech but effective. Ohters include a remote drain kit. Regardless, the first is the worst but at the same time I found it very informative on how the components of this fine machine work together.

Best thing to buy for it to enhance the 'bonding' process is gasoline.

I'm sure Tom (and other owners) could chime in here with a different perspective and other ideas.

You'll note I have very cleverly left off the rear tire budget as a 'must have'.

Get a metal skidplate. The Adv version don't bolt to the oil tank in front, so don't worry about that. There's quite a few models/brands out there, they all work well.

Get the sidestand relocator. Or make one yourself out of a flat plate of steel.

Get some bar risers if you're normal height.

Get the highway dirtbikes hand guards and mirrors.

The windshield works fine for me, but I'm normal height. If you're one of those short people, your life sucks anyways as your feet won't be able to touch the ground.

Take off the stock mirror, put them in a box somewhere to be lost later.

Set up the spring sag and roost away.
Thanks. It's nice to know that it wouldn't need thousands of dollars in "fixes" right away.

Hi Tom -

A little preseason maintenance - oil + filter change, some new ricky skags, chaincase oil and tension, clean the clutches, grease up the skidframe....... good to go!

Yes, I put Yamaha oil in my ski-doo, so whaaaaaat?

I had someone do all that for me. This time.

Some of it sounds familiar... some of it don't. Guess i'll have fun figuring it out.

It won't hurt the motor mechanically, you will just go slower.

For those following along. Deals Gap pics start

Here....

I just found this hilarious

We did make a side trip to the Fontana Dam. Biggest Dam I have ever stood on... not that I have stood on a lot of Dams mind you. But impressive as heck!

Those start here...

Then back on Rt 28 towards Cherokee and then Asheville NC

Personally, I had a hard time with Cherokee.

It's a casino on a reservation

Not my kinda place. It takes all kinda I guess.

Our "neighbor" in Asheville...

she obliviously misplaced the beach. the pool was closed, but she had her beach chair, her smokes, and her beer. She sat there for a LONG time just smokin', drink'n and watch'n. We had a talk while waiting for coffee to brew the next morning (I don't know if you could call it a "nice" talk but I found it fun. She was NOT a morning person

BlueRidge Parkway starts here

Rime-Ice near the top of the Parkway...

Simply cool 'chit that!

Same overlook. different direction

and breezy too

Cool Tunnels

Great Roads

And THEN.... we found Route 221 towards Blowing Rock north of Linville, NC. It kinda runs parallel to the Blueridge Parkway but with steeper hills and sharper corners and few if any guard rails

with a couple of rock overhangs (no trucks allowed here billy-bob)!

and a sense of humor it seems. After 10 miles or more of roads like I have shown. there is this

REALLY? Turns ahead? Who woulda thunk it?

Then back on the Parkway for a bit before lunch

and I nice highway blast up to Salem, VA (outside of Roanoke)

Not a lot of miles covered but wow. What a great ride!

The next couple of days will be "get home before the rain comes again"
Not many pictures probably but you never know

Hopefully tonight will be in Danbury CT. and tomorrow will get us home.

It's gonna be chilly, but dry if the forecast is right. Here is hoping

Is it from a GoPro? I think they have some sort of app or online whatsis that you can use. Maybe EC can jump in here with whatever he uses for his RR

Great pics!! Stoked to have been able to "ride along" with you guys!!

Bike transport to NJ

By any chance is there anyone traveling to NJ tomorrow or Thursday? I bought a bike from a dealer in South Berwick and got tied up with family duties I cannot get out of. I am willing to pay a fee plus gas if anyone is coming this way to ZIP 07644. The bike is a trials bike and weighs around 150 lbs.
