Bavaria - Austria - Round 8 - Timmelsjoch
Hi all,
small tour done today - maybe the last possible before winter rushes in. Tour: Penzberg - Kochelsee - Walchensee - Seefeld - Innsbruck - Brenner - Sterzing - Jaufenpass - Timmelsjoch - Ötztal - Seefeld - Penzberg. 371 km -- here's the gpx-file Timmelsjoch.gpx Started a bit late - so went first to Kochelsee and up the Kesselberg to Walchensee. ![]() This parking is closed by police, because of too much too fast bikes (like the one in the background) Passing Lake Walchensee - torwards Krün and Mittenwald. At Krün you can see the Zugspitze and Karwendel-mountains. ![]() Zugspitze between helmet and Tankbag ![]() The parking short before Krün. Down to the Inn-valley - passing Innsbruck and up the Brenner-pass (not at the highway - too boring) - Be careful on that road - manny speed-traps. At the top of the pass they opened a "outlet-center" - Tina loves buying chocolate there. ![]() this was for a long time the most high bridge in Europe. The "normal" pass-road follows the highway. ![]() the shopping-center at the top. Than going down to Sterzing. Wanted to go to the Dolomites, but was too late to do, so i decided to take Jaufen-pass and Timmelsjoch. ![]() 20 km and 10 "tornante" later at the top of Jaufen. View dir. Merano. ![]() and view dir. Sterzing there i came up - Road already prepeared for the snow who will come soon. Manny curves down to St. Leonhard in Passeier-valey - (left to Merano) and right up the Timmelsjoch dir. Austria. ![]() golden October (half the way up) ![]() near the top - view to the italian mountains arround. ![]() panorama part 2 ![]() and here on the way down short before (the fu..ing toll-station) Sölden - Next Sunday the ski-world-cup starts there. Running down Oetz-valley into Inn-valley. Following the river until Telfs. Here left and up to Seefeld (famous wintersport resort). Last pics - on the way up - the night catched me. ![]() the way up ![]() Last view to the Inntal - Telfs and river inn. Was cold at Seefeld - had to rush. Down the Kesselberg i meet 2 "biker-friends" at the parking. A little smal-talk and back home. have fun Andreas P.S.: You know some of my reports and you miss Tina -- me too - she is on a company-meeting, so i had to ride alone this time.

Thanks for your comments.
They told me at Jaufen that Timmelsjochroad will close next week, after the ski-world-cup. Weatherforecast tells that it will have snow next week down to 400m. ![]() brrrr :-) have fun Andreas
