steering dampner

Just wondering, after doing this conversion, I want to get a scotts dampner... should i get one to fit the yzf or get one to fit the dakar?

You need to get a aftermarket top clamp and run a sub mount. I have one for sale that works with a BRP or scotts top clamp.PM me if you are interested. The clamp can be found on ebay. Then you need a 2011Y Z250F stem mount. After that you have to weld a small cross bar on the frame. Here are some pics of how I did it.

Radman axle kit

I'm interested in placing an order with Hawk Engineering for the "Radman" designed Yamaha axle kit. After talking with them (Hawk) yesterday I was told they would need an order for six kits...

Anybody interested?

The kits are not cheap but if you want to use your BMW OEM parts then the price is the price. PM me if you're interested.

Yamaha fork Stroke

I'm interested in knowing how many of you shortened the stroke on the Yamaha fork?

By how much did you shorten the stroke, 1" or more?

And for those who didn't shorten the stroke, have you had any problems?

I have the full length but also ordered a longer rear shock to match (about $800 from Wilbers). It all depends in what you want, if you want the ultimate dirt capable F650 go for full stroke and custom shock, if you just want better front suspension (much much better than stock!) get the forks shortened.

you can also use shorter dog bones with a standard length shock to raise the rear.

House of Horsepower was working on a full fork suspension upgrade kit. Has anyone gone this route?

I have spoke with them about it and apparently are very good. Should be ready to sell in a few weeks they said. So I'm waiting to see...

Anyone got an old fork slider to sell now?I Need a left side and a brace as I crashed while riding in Columbia today. Back in the states for Christmas before getting back to the bike to head hopefully down to Argentina. New ones are horribly expensive and I can buy a used one from the uk but worried about shipping. Anyone want to sell me one?

Straight into the rear of the car. Breaking hard, their paint is all over my front fender and then I fell to the left I think the bike skidded into 180 as I was facing the other way when I go up!

Sorry to hear your misfortune, it sure put some pressure on that RHS axle lug, that is the revised stronger one too, the earlier one would have broken open the fork wall. Twisting motion breaks the fork brace so it has gone onto full lock and twisted though the braces can break under heavy usage so there may have been prior fatigue to the brace

Have the steering yoke checked in the repair I know the lower yoke can twist with less force than one would think it needs

Just for laughs I ran an early R100RS into the rear of a mini van and bent the sub frames of the mini but was able to ride the 100RS away for repairs (complete with broken bone in my foot) while they had to tow the mini away.

Recover, you have to keep up the good efforts on the reputation of Oz riders

Thanks Wayne, ok. What part exactly is the ' lower yolk'. I am working on logistics to ship my bike to Bogota and locating and buying the bits I need second hand in the US get them over Christmas and return to fix my bike before new year. So if there is a place I can look to check now to get the ball rolling all the better. Thanks for your help.
