Again, I will attempt to place the blame on L-Tryptophan for the my nap early this afternoon but you all know the real truth.

T-l 1 is gone but for the carcass. Dinner is finished. T-2 is out of the oil and the plan B is starting to take effect.

I hope that I have dreams with the smell of gumbo and sausage.

OK, I'm going into my Thanksgiving food coma just as if its turkey induced.

But this time its the corned beef, potatoes, carrots, butter sauteed cabbage, and cornbread. I can't describe how good it all tasted.

I didn't even think to take the gratuitous food pic.

Good night & Happy Thanksgiving!

Food Pic

Took the bandit over to Bradenton and took my Dad for turkey at Grandma Yoder's. It was excellent
.
The sweet potato caserole was amazingly good.

I just saw a clip on TV this past week about Yoder's and the legendary pies they turn out. Cool!

Working on a pot of gumbo today. Started making the turkey broth yesterday and a roux, that was the hard part. This morning, I picked up some nice andouille and a pound and a half of nice wild shrimp from the fish store. The shrimp will be for snacking on while the gumbo is cooking. So it is going to be all about good food, beer and music for me today.

Today is working out better than I could have ever imagined. Two weekends ago while under the influence I ordered a case of wine for the Mrs. ... mostly to keep her away from my damn beer.
Well Lucky me, it was delivered today .... and after a few glasses of some previously purchased wine the Mrs must have been pleased. fuck it she ordered me a Montana 600. Why that may be almost as good as sex.

Legendary pie ????????????
The first piece of pecan pie I was served was burnt and the replacement was about like a store bought frozen one. Mata's key lime was OK not great.
Now the chocolate peanut butter pie Dad got was great.

Pie is one of those things that everybody raves about, and then you get something with graham crackers under it.

I'm sorry but graham crackers don't belong in a good pie (unless you are a 1950's housewife)

Wow! that's really strange. The TV clip raved about all those pies - pecan, Key Lime, etc. The news station talking head and some customer sound bites. Impressive numbers for the pies sold during the holiday too. I had heard of Yoder's before this, although I think more for the restaurant side.

Sigh, I guess TV is much like the interweb - you can't believe all you hear & see. Oh wait! I already knew that because I grew up in and around TV broadcasting and worked full time in it before I even graduated high school.

Was this Grandma Yoder's in Bradenton or Yoder's Amish village in Sarasota? I was at Grandma's and bet the TV was talking about Amish Village.

There is another Amish place in Bradenton called Millers, good eats. I'll have to take Dad to Yoder's in Sarasota so I can have rhubarb pie. Been way to long.
