Put a trimmed boneless butt in the crock-pot this morning with 2 rinsed cans of black beans and a quart of mango salsa from Sams. Way good.

Listening to Benny Goodman tonight. My mom Loved the Big Bands and Mata's Dad played in one; I like to listen to them for a change once in a while.
Gene Kupa on drums; he is an Animal.

Yea, today's the last day for

99 cent/lb boston butts at Winn Dixie

Bought two Sunday

Cooked one over charcoal for two hours

then finished it up in aluminum foil in the over

Pulled pork burritos for Sinco de Mayo

Way good with a bit of sour cream, avocado, tomato and mexican cheese

Wish I could find time for charcoal. Usally it's almost 7 by the time I drag in and the grandson needs to eat so he can be in bed by 8:30.
I just burn something on gas. Doing ribeye tonight with grilled butternut squash and salad.

Sounds like grillin' season is here. Beth's making pea salad for tonight and I'm going to charcoal some country style boneless pork ribs. Sweet tater on the side for me.

From my Travel Notes: I saw BgDaddy up at the Old's Cool Spring Fling a couple of weekends ago. For some reason I never connected him with the Scrub, but it came up in conversation and he asked me, "You've been to the Scrub?". Told him I'd been a regular and the recipient of the first Flypaper Award. I would have thought some of my exploits would be more memorable. But then, I do have kind of a different face each time.

Did those for him at dinner last night before I left, with yellow rice, sauteed carrots and a salad

And made him over easy eggs, grits, pattied sarsage and toast yesterday morning

Can't say I didn't do my share of cooking yesterday

He's got plenty in the frige for the next few days

Choose the Samuel Adams variety pack... all that is left is the blueberry flavor ... The rest of the pack was mighty tasty... This weekend the hand raised piggy (Makin' Bacon) will become freezer wrapped - cannot wait to get a hold of his Boston butts-he has been well fed, too ...

Although we opted for bud lime in lieu of corona and lime this 5/5

we are the definition of Frugal

I started a charcoal fire this morning before heading to Winn Dixie

For 99 cent boston butts

Bought two, one's in the freezer at The Swamp

One's pulled apart here and is absolutely delicious

with sour cream, asiago cheese and avocado rolled into tortillas

Supposed to have been pressure washing the house today and painting this WE

But Boopie bailed on me (his washer and paint sprayer) and is in Clearwater working

We was motoring his boat down Wednesday

Of course I'm invited to come fishing Saturday

But with Sunday being a HoJo day...

And with me not painting to boot

Don't think I'll be making it

I WON

Yep, yesterday when the girl at Publix handed me my Fantasy 5 quick pick

I looked and the first two numbers were eleven and twelve

Thought to myself those'll never hit

This morning when I looked at the paper

The first two numbers were just that

Three hits for a total of $10.50

Told HoJo we had movie money this week for date night

Congrats! All I ever seem to win is a free ticket now and then.

Hey, is there anything happening at the Scrub this Memorial Day Weekend?

Not going up this time

We'll be in Weeki Wachee

What can I say?

It's just so much easier for us these days

We've come to enjoy paddling the river here about as much as anything

Although with the state opening up the headwaters to hordes of canoers and kayakers the river is practically overrun on the weekends

One plus though

Lots of scantily clad young wimmins paddling now
