I've got that love-hate thing with kick starting. My first real road bike, my BSA Thunderbolt, started first kick after I rescued it from 10 years in a barn and did a top end and rebuilt the Amal carb, and started every time after that first kick if I had turned off the headlight and hadn't left it on "dim" or "flicker." In that case, it usually took 5 kicks. My SR500 was pretty well-behaved if one followed the proper ritual. My only kickstart bike now is a KTM (Kick 'Til Midnight) 200EXC. I'm a bit worried about the built SR500 race bike I'm getting ready for next season- I might drag out the rollers. I love the simplicity, and in the case of the KTM, not even a battery, but when you've crawled out from under the bike for the 50th time and have to once again address it (properly) with a boot, the magic button is awfully attractive.

Probably feels old first thing in the morning.

That's my vintage, and I always know when there's rain coming.

Date of the magazine, same as the year I was born which means he's old enough to be my father!
