I have to tell all that my family toured many times in New England on bikes in the early seventies out of New Jersey...my bro on the back of dads BMW /5 and me on the back of moms CB350Four. We put our backpacking gear on the bikes and go......Mom and dad do not ride today but they still have their bikes. My parents and brother are my best friends. My brother and I still ride and camp all the time although I can not talk him into a nice dual sport....yet.....[he rides a R12RT]

We moved to Virginia in the mid seventies and bikes have been at the core of our lives.....Appalachia is our home.

I am very thankful for all my friends and family for their support on my mission in life and YOU ALL have been a great part of that!

Snoopy is my mascot.....and that Cat and Moose....eee

So this morning I take the wife and daughter out to pick out a Christmas tree and then I'm going hunting. We get there and the girls pick out a tree in what is record time for us so I'm thinking sweet my job is almost done here and I can get down the road. We stop at Sheetz for gas and hot chocolate for the girls. As I pull up to the pumps I try to stop and the brake pedal goes to the floor.

I get out and see the front left brake line has failed, spraying fluid everywhere. I park the truck off to the side and walk to Auto Zone, all they have are fixed length lines with the wrong fittings. I get back to the truck with the new line, correct fittings, flaring tool, and tubing cutter. I cut the flare off one end get the new fitting on and put a new flare on the end of the line and try to bend the new line without kinking it. After I get the line on I have to bleed the air out and the bleeder valve ain't budging.
Back to Auto Zone where I find out that if I do somehow manage to loosen the bleeder valve a new one runs 15 bucks and there's no way the old one's coming out without getting destroyed in the process. I ask how much for a new caliper? 25 bucks, so for 10 dollars more I go that route. I get the new caliper on, bleed the brakes now I'm ready to roll but it's almost dark.

So the girls got their tree and hot chocolate and the deer get to live to see another day, me I'm going to put some Jalapeno poppers and the Weber and have a couple cold ones. And I thought putting up Christmas lights yesterday sucked.

Caliper for 25 bucks? That's GOOD!
Good job though... Sucks you had to deal with it, but the deer will be aware of your presence tomorrow.

They want 150$ for a caliper on my 87 TT350. Paid 200$ for the bike and two motors that don't work.

Well, that sucks Kev, but you didn't end up in a ditch. You didn't take out a gas pump or hit anybody. You got a good family and critters and cold beers and hot poppers to be inside and warm with...

Didn't ya learn anything on Thanksgiving?

Happy Day After!

You're absolutely right hppyfngy. I'm just a guy that likes to complain a lot on the outside but is pretty content on the inside.

I better go check on those poppers before I burn the house down.

The deer won't see me tomorrow. Daughter's going back to school Sunday so I'll hang around here.

I was having a little fun with today's circus of events but it was pretty sobering actually. It's had to imagine that happening anywhere else and not turning into a bad situation. I just pulled a trailer across the mountain two weeks ago, that could have been real bad.

A belated Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope everyone had a great time yesterday with family and friends!

Damn Kevin, that sucks about the brake line.
Back in the late seventies I had a front brake line burst on my 67 RS/SS Camaro. Luckily I was only doing about 25-30 mph, heading up a hill on the Warrenton bypass. Could have been a LOT worse.

Funny you mentioned Jalapeno poppers. The local store in Bentonville was selling them this summer. Lately I've been jonesin for some. I just bought some Jalpeno's Wednesday to make some with. I have a good idea what I'm going to stuff them with but do you have any special recipe?
