It's a freakin' game of hiking tag... like Mike started here, but with a big bounty for finding the booty. $1000 if you can believe that. No way I was going to go up there on a motorcycle or in a sports car today, not knowing for sure where it was and if it could be found buried in snow. Not even for the the full booty. Not enough to cover an emergency room visit. DAMHIK. Maybe another one will come along in the general area, when the weather is reasonable....

Rosie and I got a nice beer from getting Mike's first hiking tag. Saved it 'till we got home, though. Well, not without sipping it first, it had a reclosable top.

So that wall was on the AT between Thornton gap and Mary's rock huh? My first thought when I saw that wall was that it was somewhere not too far the where the old Panorama building used to be. I'm sure I've been by it at least once.

One clue was that SNP uses a lot of logs across the trails like what was in the pick for trail erosion control.

Started out as a good day today; even with the weather this morning I was able to get to work with no problems. Hell, the governement offices being closed actually made it a really nice drive!

But I knew things were going to well; here is the scene that greeted me when I got back home....

Damn frickin' wind!!!

Luckily, at first glance it doesn't appear as though there's any real damage. Just some torn bike covers, a little scratching and rubbing off of powder coating on a panier, and that's all I could see at first glance.

Could have been worse I guess; bikes could have fallen over ONTO the BMW that sometimes parks next to the bikes!

Wonder how long they were laying over like that on their side?

Bummer, Denis. It was windy as heck here, too.
Bikes need garages. I bet there would have been much more serious problems if the wind were strong enough to blow over the Harley.

Yep; I guess I'll have to remember that next time I come across one of those Harley bashers. Being the heavyweight of motorcycles does have advantages after all!

PS. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAN!!!

If a bike falls in the forest and there's no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Done!

Its over. The driveway is clear, the power is back on, Rachel is cooking dinner, the roads are nice and clean, and all is well in TIMster's world. Grand total snowfall= 15 1/4". My back is a bit sore but its nothing that can't be cured with a Advil and a few beers! The power was out for the majority of the day and Rachel made grill cheese sandwiches on the wood stove. It was AWESOME!

Thanks guys; I think the bikes are/will be fine. After all, it's not like it's the first time either one has taken a little nap! It does still break my heart a little bit though to come home and see them laying over on their sides........on pavement.

Damn SLIP, that's some accumulation you got there! I think you're the big winner here!

I dont want to win this contest, the roads havent been plowed yet and my truck tires are shot. I got stuck in the driveway 3 times moving it out of the way to push snow. I hated to see your bikes like that, but I did see you take a spill one day that was a lot harder on the bike than the wind!
