That's why I need cardboard, too.
I've got a sheet of metal.

And the cardboard is to help protect it while bending?

No, the carboard is for practice before I try to weld the metal!

Sunday Ride/Meet ADV Riders

A few of us are going to do some riding on Sunday Dec 14. It would be nice if some valley riders would come along or at least join up for lunch. It'd be great to meet ya!

First I need to fix my own damn bike! Going to roll it into the kitchen Saturday morning to diagnose the starter problem.

Ha that was staged after Skippii's actual crash. Watch out though, there are a bunch of very dangerous sections of mud that are a sheet of ice. Best bet would be to enter this road off Hopkins Gap Rd at the Mennonite Church. You should be able to take this all the way up to Rough Run Rd if the ice doesn't get to be too bad. I don't think the gate at 2nd Mountain Trail and Rt 33 is open anymore so if you come down that way, you may have an unpleasant surprise and have to go back up. Easy to double check by just riding 33 down to the entrance to 2nd Mountain Trail and checking beforehand.

Okay, when I said I had a spare starter, I didn't mean to take the one off my V-strom!

Tried to leave work yesterday - nothing happening! No click, no power, nothing!
Finally got it jump-started, but I'm definately going to have to figure out WTH happened!

Check your battery volts. Could it be one of your plugs or heated grips is causing a drain. I thought they were on relays though. These things always happen in threes....who's next?

I haven't had any problems since.
Battery voltage was at 5.9V. (not good!)

Jump started it, and put 200 miles on without any problems.

I'm guessing that somehow in the downpour of rain, the grips relay got stuck on the "on" position and never returned....which is troublesome, but without it happening again, it's really hard to diagnose!

I thought the grips were on a relay...
