Where specifically did you camp bro?

Is it open camping or developed sites?

I camped along the side of the Rattlesnake Run Road. 39.792116,-77.476981
I don't know if it was legal or not but I haven't been hassled yet...just offered help by passersby. Caledonia State Park is just north of there and they have a ton of developed campgrounds and some nice trails to link up. Jax would be your best bet as far as legality goes. Alternatively you could also check out Catoctin Mtn St Park, Gambrill St. Park or Buchanan State Forest. I usually set up at dusk and roll out before dawn. YMMV.

If you think you're making some of us feel jealous, well....

Brings pleasant feelings to see those pics and hear of your amblings. Appreciate the posting of the coordinates, too.

Cunningham Falls is a nice park also, just south(across the street) of Catoctin Park. In MD, the only place to legally camp in a non designated site would be on the AT, which does run through that area.

DO NOT bandit camp in Catoctin Park. It is the home of the most guarded campsite in the country. Bandit camping could lead to a visit by a black Suburban occupied by guys with no sense of humor.

Funny...I'd rather ride back to Arlington through MD than go below the river and deal with the congestion and rich folk land of NOVA

THe dichotamy between development N and S of the river is fascinating and follows historical trends in transportation (Rt 7/Rails to Leesburg vs National Pike and 70)

Moreover, I'd rather be in the valley

Right on, Mike. Yet if I recall correctly, Montgomery county is the wealthiest in the metro area.
So quit raggin' on the area my daughter lives in. lol

She has better dirt roads though

In an interesting game of "keeping it in the family" so to speak, I was contacted by the current owner of my old Vstrom. Apparently the owner I sold it to through ADV must have sold it off at some point to this guy (also ADV) It lives in DC too! Looking forward to paying her a visit some time next week
