I've heard good things.

I have a camera with similar features I've been pretty happy with:

I guess that subjective assessment is relative. Regardless, I wouldn't consider the Blue Ridge Parkway a "beginner" road. 252-39-42 seems more beginner-like. But the bottom line is there's no "easy ride"; the only thing 'easy' about motorcycle riding is getting maimed or killed. Staying alert to limitations and mitigating threats is a full-time job.

It was a nice ride. The other guy is returning to riding rider. He had a bike and used it for commuting 30 years ago. It was a slow ride.
I know no ride is easy. I know you or they or them can die in less than a second. I just didn't feal right rakeing him on a ride up Shenandoah mountain or over into highland.
He got a 2012 klr. It had 60 miles on it when we left his house. It is still under break in.
So i was also looking to not take him on a ride that we'd push his machine.
Thanks for the advice. It was a nice ride. For a little 50 some mile loop it was just right.

Why is the parkway not "beginner" the speed limit is 45 and there are all sorts of places to stop.

There are a couple decreasing radius corners that aren't quite marked but really it has to do with comfort of the rider and bike as well as the number of distractions/animals/overlooks on the BRP. It can be hard to look at some roads thruogh the eyes of "new" riders again when our vision gets older with age

I always felt the Parkway was a great Beginner road .. NO trucks !!!
The Speed Limit is 45 !! NO real tight hard twisties..

Of course once you have had over 200k under ya .
Most run the Parkway faster then what is suggested.. ..
But it truly is a great n00b road IMHO...
