I've hiked all that area with Evil Chucky the week before hunting season and based on the few trailers we saw up there near that big clearing at the top the road up must be pretty good, but that was 4yrs ago. I always wanted to go back and camp under those massive hemlocks at the top on the southern end of the ridge, towards Little Schloss. Its open and flat up there with fabulous views.

That is exactly what I was planning on doing - camping right at the southern end. Just picked up a 10x14 Kodiak Canvas tent for a song on Craigslist and want to break it in with a few buddys. Hoping to be up there at peak color and take in the view for a couple days. Was planning on taking the old Land Cruiser up there.
