Damn son, are you and Beard working on opening your own used motorcycle lot!?!?

Seriously though, I'm super jealous, and love it, because you make me and the four motorcycles I own look normal!

I see why you've all invaded the SMIB thread... it's a freakin used bike lot here!

Speaking of which, my friend Jack (not Jax...) who happens to be the original owner of my beautiful Tiger 1050 roadie - is selling his 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere. Why? Well, he made the mistake of going for a look see at the new water cooled GS... it is now in his garage and he needs to make room.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tchlink:top:en

This guy really takes care of his bikes. My Tiger was mint when I picked her up from Jack.

See some of you FFs at BWDR...I'll be there tomorrow around noon! Yee Ha!

I will defer to Oldnogps if he chimes in, as he's had both. (I've ridden both but very little time on the WRR) It's close, in a way. Certainly not the power, suspension is very good on both but the DRZ is certainly heavier.

It's like with when I had the KLX250s and the DRZ, side by side for a full year trying to decide between the two. 250 was lighter by maybe 30#. Z had more power. About the same at any speed except the 250's both have 6 speeds. DRZ definitely has more grunt though. At or above 50mph, the 250's just have nothing left.

But it's a near toss up. You, my friend, would not be happy with a 250, (unless it was a two stroke...) I would. Does that tell you anything?

What hppyfngy said. DRZ has more torque for going up hills, WRR has balls when it's up on the pipe. WRR is WAY smoother, 6th gear is a big plus. I'd rather ride the WRR on the highway, at speeds up to 60-65 it's one of my favorite bikes as far as a dual sport single. Not much left above that - it's a 250. DRZ vibration bothers me at about 50 or so but it's not as nasty as a 640ADV. Actually, nothing is as nasty as a 640. Brakes and suspension are a toss-up, both are decent for my weight (150-155# all geared up) and candyass riding speeds. WRR feels slightly lighter but it's no feather either.
After hppyfngy and I swapped the DRZ and WRR for a short stint, I enjoyed riding a DRZ again (had an '04) but preferred the smoothness of the WRR. Thought a 350cc WRR that's as smooth but with the torque of a DRZ would be about perfect.
Since nearly everyone weighs more than me, I think they would be happier with a DRZ. A lot of my WRR's performance was enhanced by my favorable power-to-weight ratio. Also, my skinny bod seems to be pretty sensitive to vibration that doesn't bother those with a little more meat on their bones.
Cool thing is that they're both solid, reliable bikes.
Edit: I forgot the F.I. vs. Carb issue. WRR always started perfectly, ran well but had the typical off-idle glitch that nearly all F.I. bikes have. It's noticeable and sometimes annoying if you're in tighter stuff. DRZ has that smooth carb delivery but like all carbed bikes, you sometimes have to fiddle with the choke if it's cold and you stopped to take a break for a bit. Never a real issue IMHO, most of us are used to that.

Thanks for that eye-opening exposé, both of you. Makes sense.
I, too, prefer the torquey bottom end and not having to shift very much. But then again I don't ride "balls to the wall" very often (and then I can only last for short stints). Heck I'll ride most forest roads in third gear from tight switchbacks to pretty long straights from a crawl to over 60. Occasionally 4th or 2nd, and it better be a pretty open gravel road for me to cruise along in 5th. With MY 250, I about wear out my left foot shifting constantly. But I've never ridden a WR. I've been told it's much faster than those new Honda 250s, imagine much moreso than my old XR. I believe Randy, though, when he says it probably doesn't have enough grunt to put me in nirvanna. The CRF450x is my favorite bike I've ridden so far. Very zippy, very stable, very predictible. Suits my style of riding to a "T".
ONG, what are you riding now?
Happy trails!

Closest place to watch road raching

I have checked online a couple of times and have not seen road racing at Summit Point. Do they still have bike races there? What would be the closest place to Winchester to see some decent road racing?
