You're gonna have a toasty arse. Feel free to PM me. Find the GS FAQ and Hall of Wisdom. Karl Kulow's guide is a good supplement to the service manual. I think I have the BMW service manual too as a PDF. If you need any spare parts in a pinch (starter, various engine bits or gaskets, I may be able to help)

Well I have to hook them up to see if they even work. The battery was replaced recently and the wiring to the seat(two bit engineering) wasn't reattached.
It needs a little TLC. I'd like to go over the whole thing(if I knew what I was doing) at some point in the near future. Tune up, oil change(doing that today if I can score a filter), Transmission oil change, Rear end oil change, valve adjustment, throttle body sync, a good cleaning, etc.

Thanks Jack! I think this is what I was really looking for when I bought the Wee. I really had no intention of buying a bike right now but the stars aligned and here it is!

Mike, so you sprung for a TwinMax?

Bob, that big pig is probably one of the best all around bikes ever built. Long distance, paved twisties, gravel, and dirt if you can bench press 700 lbs . . .

Mike and I can tell you all about Hall sensors . . . If yours hasn't been replaced by the newer versions with heat-resistant wiring, might be a winter project.

Jim Von Baden's DVDs are the bees knees. Highly recommended.

Welcome to the club! Maybe we need a west-coast GS rally at my house . . .

Thanks! I think that's for throttle body synching? Maybe I can slip up to the Rusty Rex Garage one night when you all have a tech session.

Thanks George! I wasn't intending on buying this bike. I was intending to do some mods to the XR and ride it this winter. Now I need to decide if I'm going to keep the XR...

I just helped point you in the right direction. I eyeballed it seriously but finally decided that I need to be riding lighter bikes.
Glad you got it and I hope it's a good one for you.
And yes, you can do your own maintenance. None of the 5 GS's I've had ever went to a shop. I also have a Twinmax if you need one.
