My boy and I have been doing some cool two up trips. Ever since I went to AK few years back he has been dying to go. He has a healthy addiction to wolves and just about anything relating to animals. Two years ago we rode to Yellowstone. Last summer up around the great lakes and to the International Wolf Center in Minn.

This year we are really going to try hard to get to AK by way of Glacier NP, Banff etc. Selling the FJR will offset the Tenere and selling the DR will cover much of the trips cost. Hoping the Tenere will work well enough to cover the duties of the two sold bikes.

Here he is in the beginning of my old AK video, 99% of the youtube hits were him watching it over and over.

Wow that is awesome Brian! Congrats on the memory building with your son. It will be a trip he won't forget

Spent the Thanksgiving -> Sunday up on Dolly Sods and the Roaring Plains. Epic winter camping and snow backpacking conditions. Mostly followed bear and rabbit tracks since the trals were obscured, carins undestinguishable from small pine trees and no or few blazes. About 25-30 miles for the weekend. Getting up there on black ice in a jeep though was a bit harrowing in the dark

I'll edit pics soon but here are a few phone shots.

Mount Porte Crayon and Haystack Knob in the distance. This ice covered talus slope went on for quite a ways complete with ankle breaking holes and deep crecaves to fall through.

Coffee break on the Roaring Plains after 45 minutes of bushwacking.

BRrrrrr. Keeping the sun and windburn at bay.

Much of the snow had melted by yesterday but this is the view of Canaan Valley and the ski resort up ahead. It was quite windy with the approaching front blocking out the sun.

Thanks for coming along NOw back to the garage for me

That is gorgeous, Mike. I'm impressed. Being out in the cold like that isn't for me, but I can see how you tough young bucks enjoy conquering it. Hope the garage is warm!

Instead, why not move California to here?

Okay, so we're not as warm, but we're just as beautiful, and there's no reason we should be denied similar benefits. We should push for a referendum.

Glad to know you're on the mend, fragile.
