I park around back so the north side street people don't mess with it. A homeless man sometimes lives under the tree next to our horribly placed Motorcycle Parking (directly across from the ABC). I called his wallet in to police once, found his glasses, cans of vienna sausages and there is often an empty bottle of Wild Irish Rose making a morning appearance.

Ah, nothing like the North End of town. We need to get together for lunch one day.

Since the strom has two running headlight bulbs, I've considered adding a kill switch for one to give me that extra 60W.
The jacket LINER power draw spec is 77W, how much are the gloves? If you run the liner at 75%, that's under 60W.

The alternator isn't a fixed output device (as you alluded to). That figure was at a particular speed, so you may be operating at an engine speed higher than that which produces a spare 100W. It's worth checking to see at what speed that rating was taken.

As for sitting at a light... the battery is a storage device so it's like an averaging function - as long as the engine runs fast enough, long enough to replace the energy in the battery that was drawn out at the light, you're golden. And if your battery is fully charged when you stop at the light, it'll be a damn long light before 100W depletes it. You can always twist the throttle up to 1500-2000 RPM to cover your draw while waiting at the light.

Hopefully Gerbing will tell you they'll cover it. It's just that some brands require an "authorized distributor" make the sale before they'll cover it. It's another way to limit warranty liability.

Better than a kill switch for one headlight bulb would be a device to switch the current from one to the other and back periodically, like 1Hz or someting. Not only would it drop your headlight power consumption in half, but increase people's visibility of you in the daytime.

It would be nice to have a four position switch: one, the other, both, oscillate

For sure. Drove past your office today on my way to finding an Air Release Valve under some snow and leaves.

Yes h14xl, it is a turbocity rack. Got it through New Enough.com. Semms to be well made. As soon
as I get some time in on the 606's , I will let you know something. I only have about 30 miles on them right now.

Never thought I would say this to a guy but...Nice rack! I wish I had something better than the one I have.
I love the 606's on the XR. They handle very well on the road for a knobby and they are excellent in the dirt! I don't ride aggressively but they grip very well on the twisties going over 211 to Sperryville.
I got 3000miles on my first set and will probably get the same on the current set. I don't get offroad as much as I would like but I like having them when I need them and they are reasonably priced at Motorcycle Superstore.

On another note, there is one hell of a fire in town right now. Has traffic all screwed up.
