The California DMV is the left-armpit of the universe.

There are more drivers and cars in CA than any other state in the union, and by no small margin. Instead of making DMV's something that are plentiful and well staffed, located at shopping malls, they make these mega centers in the middle of BFE, at least they are "mega" terms of waiting queues. I don't think they actually have any more staff working-- key word *WORKING* --than any other state's DMV office of any arbitrary size. Then there is the office itself, the AC always seems to be out, the ventilation wholly inadequate, and the lighting is odd and off-color usually with the florescent lights humming and blinking.

Then there are the people (both sides of the counter.) The strangest people you ever will see just seem to be hanging out there all the time, and even worse they smell like they have been dead and rotting in the sun for a few days, and they always want to sit RIGHT NEXT TO YOU and strike up conversation about something entirely nonsensical, or worse yet, touch you. It's like a circus giant, stinky yellow-tinted freak-show, without the comfort and separation of a stage between the freaks and the audience, to make it entertainment rather than just entirely uncomfortable.

What I find most amazing for a bureau which deals almost exclusively with autos, motorcycles, and people-- I haven't been to a branch that has ever had even remotely adequate parking or seating. Partially because the offices are located in BFE rather than say your local mall or shopping center where there is plenty of parking.

It's one of the many little things that helped contribute to my almost psychotic compulsion to flea the state of CA, in spite of the economic suicide that leaving my career there would cause. Best move I ever made.

California is a really nice place to visit and has some fantastic places to see, things to do, and places ride, but don't think I can ever again be convinced to live there again in my life. And part of the my justification is the DMV.

In other words, CA has my vote for the worst of the worst in DMV's.

the monkees suck. you might have had a chance with a decent picture but the shaded side in a dark setting isn't exactly ansel adams.

we've said it before we'll say it again. if you don't care why should I. btw your low on oil.

Tork, the monkees suck. I wish they'd all have a reunion tour on a cruise ship and it sailed off the end of the earth.

peter sucked. mickey sucked. mike sucked. and that little dickhead davy really sucked the big slamboni. it never should have happened. california takes the hit for that one.

suckola. next.
