I don't care if this is a re-post it's fucking awesome. The modern internal combustion may not be all that efficient, but it sure as hell looks impressive here.

Its probably camera's fps, but doesn't it look like it goes out of sync every few rotations?

Define efficiency? 100%? 80? 70%?

Try 35%...at it's best, down to a more typical 20 to 30%..

But efficient in what way?
Smiles per gallon?
Dollars per mile?
Thermal efficiency?
Volumetric efficiency?
Is there a more efficient way to propel our vehicles, if so why aren't we using it?
We have litre bikes making 200 horsepower, where not too long ago, that's 3.3 horsepower per cubic inch, not long ago 1 hp per cubic inch was "unheard of"

I guess a small nuclear power reactor in everyones car/motorcycle would be more efficient, but in dollars per mile, I don't think so.

It's all relative.

205 but worth 205ing.......Re KTM videos. Wouldn't be nice to have a free maintained bike to trash, thrash and ride 8 hours a day with a mechanic to keep it 100%

yup. even nuclear power reactors aren't all that efficient, was reading the other day they only release 1% of the potential energy if using einstein's old e=mc2 equation (any nuclear phyics guys might correct this figure if wrong).

Well shit, maybe we could find a way to power our vehicles with the BS from advrider.com then?
A 1% efficiency rating would be acceptable because of the abundance of fuel :)

I think it's closer to 30% to 40%, depending on the type.

A car in the 70's was about 15%. Now it's, as mentioned, touching 40%.

Electricity, from the time it's in the ground to the time it powers our lights at home is a measly 13% ish.

We're (humans) are about 20%. Crops are 1% to 2%...

Interesting stuff :)

"It's not like we can make a valve-less combustion chamber head or anything"

Nikola Tesla.

"The valves act like giant plugs blocking the exhaust gasses from escaping"
