If you are 6 ft. tall or taller, I would suggest the Kawi KLX 250...great bike with fully adjustable front and rear suspension and ride height...the XT is better for 5'6" guys like myself since it's slow and low.

Got a pic of the aforementioned windshield?

140 main jet idea abandoned

FWIW
The 140 just wasn't getting enough air even with the air box cover removed. I put the 135 back in and it is the sweet running reliable bike I have grown to really appreciate. Three turns out on idle mixture and FMF PowerCore 4 with stock jetting is a winner on my bike.

OBTW, my new Avon Distanzia tires really make it a fun little back roads bike.

XT250 Completing the Trans-Mass Trail & Puppy Dog Route

Just took my XT from CT to the Canadian Border over two days via the TMT/PDR - performed flawlessly. Was cranking up the dirt roads at over 55 mph, navigating over trees, and through the mud. The bike did everything effortlessly throughout my five day, 1200 mile trip. I've had other bikes over the last several years, but I can't say I've had as much fun as I have enjoyed on my XT - total simplicity & versatility. I'll own this bike forever!

XT Momo in his full travel regalia - ready to embark from CT:

Awesome!

I just rode mine from Houston to Montgomery and back. Like you she never missed a beat.

Tires were toast by the time I got to Montgomery.

Fresh rubber, an oil change, and a couple beers later I think we both felt refreshed!

Looks like I am going to end up buying an xt 250. My girlfriend just sat on one at the dealership and she feels its perfect for her. She just needs to put on bar risers (she is only 5'5).

Now the question is. Is the 250 FI worth it? lol

If not then i can get an xt250 for under 3000 used.

Sigh.

I am personally going to buy a wr250r.

She may not even need them. I'm 5'4 1/2 and ride it stock, with the rear suspension spring slightly loosened - but do whatever it takes.

If you do the 3 turns out mod on the fuel/air screw, and keep the battery charged up, it will start up in a second every single time, great bikes, go for it, get the used one.

Im sure the FI is great, but at under 3K thats what i would do.

I got my 2009 with under 300 miles on it for $3,200 a few years ago, and sold it for more a year later with 7K+ miles, never a single issue.

Looks like a place where you'd get mugged or shot or both.
