How do you like the rear rack? I've been going back and forth in my head about buying that one but wasn't sure how strong it was with the way it mounts. Could it handle say 40lbs of anything I throw on there?

SL:
Seems sturdy enough for me. I left the original lift handles on, so I don't lift the bike by the rack when I put it on my truck's hitch carrier. The slots also work well for straps.

I very recently picked up this little one:

Funny (to me at least) story about it:

I've had my eyes open for an XT250 for a while. I saw a used '08 at a local stealership and inquired about it. They wanted way too much for it in my opinion, and wouldn't budge even $1. I walked.

2 months later, I notice the same bike is still there. I inquire about it again, and the same salesman tells me, "We've had a lot of interest in it." I tell him, "I can see that", and walk again.

Fast forward 6 more months. I run across an ad for an '08 at a much more reasonable price. Long story short, it turns out to be the same bike. I end up buying it and saving more than $1,000 over the dealer's original price. Funny things is, the guy who I bought it from only put 25 miles on it in the 6 months he owned it.

I added a rack, skid plate, and some Maxxis rubber. Great little desert eater.

OK To put For Sale here? '13 XT250...

I'm in Nor Cal and have a 2013 XT, 531 miles on it. Have added TCI Skidplate, Acerbis hand guards, rear rack, and wider foot pegs.

Had 600 mile service already done as well as had the clutch rebuilt, all done by Yamaha dealer.

I'm not forced to sell it but as I bought another bike, it's not doing me much good to have it just sitting in the garage either.

Asking $4300, Lien is through Yamaha. PM me if interested and apologies if this is not ok to post in this thread.

yes, there was a problem with the clutch one day (over heated) doing trail rides... after taking to the dealer it was still ride able but decided it was worth the couple hundred to not think about it. anyway i'm a believer in full disclosure so if i'm selling something then i'm going to be upfront.

Just realized there was a XT250 thread... I was on the 225 as my wife owns a 05. Mine is a 09.
Guess the 1st question is: where to find in the US bigger main and idle jets and which size(s) should I get?
Thanks!!

Boats.net has a #140 main jet, they also have pilot jets, on the pilot tho, just leave the stock one in there, and do the fuel screw 3 turns out mod, its very lean from the factory, once you set it to 3 turns out, it will start up right away.

Aftermarket

So the XT250 is going into its sixth year of product in the US and I still can't get a larger fuel tank. Does anyone bother to ask IMS, Clarke, Safari, or Acerbis to come up with something? I know I did my part to bug them! Maybe I'm the only one but even an extra gallon would be a great range extender since it is my do-it-all bike.

If anyone else wants one, please start sending emails like I have. I'd love to get a wolfman rack setup for the XT if anyone else wants to start harassing them too.

Has anyone found a source for a 14T front sprocket yet?

Has anyone ridden both a carbed and an EFI model who can give an honest comparison of the two?

Also, has no one put a low front fender on one yet? I don't see how you can resist.

My first motorcycle had a low front fender. After one or two mud exposures I was able to figure out "Hey, this is a bad idea."

I haven't been on this forum in 2 years' figured I should come back with a post to a thread for my bike. Painted the front fender to resemble some euro/asian Serows.
