Inquiry - OTD Prices for a F800GS
Being a little fortunate and having a couple coins during these tough economic times I was hoping to see what type of deal I could get on a beemer. Any US based riders willing to share their Out The Door price and what part of the US you are based?
Thanks, M |

I've talked to two different dealers (or their sales guys) no one is dealing, they are flying out the door so fast the dealer has very little cost in them.

Dealers are paid by BMW for the pre-sale prep on the bike, and the $495 destination BMW charges the dealers is an actual real cost to get the bike from Germany to the dealer. Any additional prep charged by a dealer is just extra profit extracted from the un-informed. Seek out dealers who display the "Monroney" as the hang tag. Anybody can price out a bike on the BMW national website. Base MSRP is listed, as is the $495 destination. Click on either the "View Specs" or "Download Specs" links and all option prices are listed. I don't understand why anybody needs to get on this site and ask how much a BMW bike costs, it's just a few clicky-clickies away.

For a REAL data point: My bike has a centerstand, ABS, comfort package, and clear lenses for the standard $12,670, plus... Doc prep $55 Tax $1152 Extended Warranty $1586 Gap Insurance $600 License $91 Tire fees $3.50 Destination $495 And I can't find the breakdown, but the handguards, bashplate, installation, and other dealer 'fees' was $741. So I probably got robbed a few hundred bucks there. Big deal, in the grand scheme of things. Grand total? $17393.28 |

When I answered the post the first time I interperted OTD as the total amount of the check you wrote including sales tax ($978). I wrote a check for $12,975 and that was it. I did pay the parts department additional dollars for the Akra and the handguards, and the dealer installed them for free. I was very pleased with the service and the dealer - top notch IMO. I flew to San Diego to pick up the bike, the dealer picked me up at the airport (nice touch), and the bike was ready. Normally you can ride from San DIego to San Jose in about 8 hours - it took me two days and a lot of dirt. My new F800 looked a little beat when I got her home, and I was a little beat but grinning from ear to ear. If you want to include airfare that was $155, and it cost me $74 to get my car out of the parking lot at the airport.
