Hippo Hands hitting brake lever

Hi, sorry to start yet another thread about these things, but I have a question about how to keep them away from the controls.

I tried them on my Suzuki S40 this morning and my hands were toasty warm with regular gloves on. Outstanding.

HOWEVER, they are hitting the clutch and brake levers just a bit, not enough to engage the brake, but enough to turn my brake light on.

Is there something easy and cheap I can do to keep the HH away from the levers?!

Thanks and be safe
Amy

That's a common problem when you don't have hand guards. You can buy brackets that attach to your mirror stalks and they keep the hippo hands off your levers. You could always use the pictures as a start and make your own.

Ditto on the brackets. I have a cheap pair of snowmobile mitts that are like Hippo Hands. One day out for a ride on my Yamaha FZ1, I got up some speed, and the clutch lever pulled in enough to slip. It freaked me out at the time, and it took me some trouble shooting, and a stupid thread I posted before I figured out what happened. Sorry to ramble, but this could happen with your set up, as well, maybe.

I actually don't have the hippos. I have the Parts Unlimited knock offs. No issues.

Which I think are the Moose brand. I have them too. $29.00, I figured I would try them. I like them and no problems.

Those are what I have--and what caught the wind and pushed in the clutch lever on my FZ1 (but now that I think about it, I might have been excessively over the speed limit at the time).

thanks folks

I looked at the brackets on the HH website and am taking a picture to the guy who works on my bike. He thinks a better solution is hand guards, but he isn't sure if he has any hand guards to fit the Suzuki S40, which is a small cruiser, but he is going to try to fabricate something.

Determined to make this work - the HH made a huge difference in the warmth of my hands.

Thanks for all the info. From this and other websites, it sounds like this is a common enough problem with the HH and other hand muffs. Patent anyone?

Thanks and ride safe,
Amy
