Good job MrMac! Saved me from having to rescue it tomorrow.
No idea where the new tag is, but maybe with a little research I'll have a ride destination for tomorrow.

Map Updated.

I Got The Tag I Got The Tag

Wakey wakey time for eggs and bakey . I got the tag this morning, you are right this is a nice place though it is not a road for a Gold Wing , but I used my trusty riding skills and got it up here, got stuck just before the top lost my momentum and rear tire fell in a rut. It was a bitch to get a 900 lb bike out of a rut but I did it and now for some evidence.

I have already picked next tag out and we are going to see about those people that said us Augusta guys don't ride out of their back yard.

Currahee Mountain, just west of Toccoa. Near the intersection of 17 and 184 if memory serves. I haven't been up that way in a long time.

I was headed up there to get the tag now, good thing you got an early start!

Thanks! Now it's getting even cooler. Learning lots of new things as well as cool destinations.

The French clue threw me. I was looking for Surrender Mountain

From the Wiki entry:
Currahee Mountain is a mountain located in Stephens County, Georgia near Toccoa. It is the last (or southernmost) mountain in the Blue Ridge mountain range. Currahee appears to be derived from the Cherokee word gurahiyi (Cherokee), which means "water cress place" or may mean "standing alone." [1] Currahee Mountain rises about 900 feet above the local topography and, with an overall elevation of 1740 feet, is the highest peak in Stephens county. Part of the mountain is in the Chattahoochee National Forest.
The mountain was made famous internationally by Steven Spielberg's TV series of Band of Brothers. The mountain was featured during the training of the American Paratroopers at Camp Toccoa, Georgia where they ran up and down Currahee. The name of the mountain became the motto for these paratroopers including the famous quote: "3 Miles up, 3 Miles down".

"Currahee" was the battle cry of the paratroopers as they bailed out over France on D-day.

There is a memorial nearby, and a museum in Toccoa. Not much else remains except what I think was the mess hall. Not too many of those men that trained here ever made it back home. Several years ago, I met one of them. Even in his mid 80's, he was riding a mountain bike!!

Good work Jman!! Didn't know people still rode Goldwings...

Probably should have mentioned the road .. But glad you made it! Look forward to the next tag!!

(and considering you are on your GW, I have a feeling it isn't going to be close..)

Good grab! I had figured out where it is, not by the pics or the clues, but if you click on the person who posted the tags pictures, it took you to his photobucket (or smugmug or flickr or whatever) and the one picture he didn't post here was looking up at the mountain from the gas station down on the bypass in Toccoa. I was like,"wait a minute, I've been in that exact spot!" I was gonna grab the tag tomorrow if no one else did, I have some photography I have to do today and work as a stagehand tonight.

Oh.. That is sneaky!!

That pic would have been another clue if this hadn't been found by today.

BTW, there is a new barbecue restaurant at that gas station now... Last time I was through there it had all closed down.

New Tag

Alright Kiddies new tag,

This should be an easy one for yall.

1 This is the grave of the fella that Mr Edwards on Little House on the Praire sang about.

2 It is located in the Granite Captial of the world

3 It is on the East Side of the county and only one road in and the same road out. (it is also Goldwing approved)

That should be all the clues that you need. You can't drive to the grave site you will have to park by the sign and walk to it. It is only about a 3 minute walk.

Ramblers lets ge rambling

No but I did have to put down my recent copy of Wing World when I was negotiating those ruts.

I didn't realize that those first pics were that small, I use my laptop to get them on the site the settings were wrong, that way yall could stay in and sleep Here they are normal. I got almost up to that spot and stalled out the bike, by the time I got it out of the hole I was ready to remove some clothes
