I am no super hero. Going to have to give that morning's breakfast all the credit for this puff of smoke.

Spam and Corned beef and Hash. Great recipe xJonX

Some additional pics to add:

Sung, I don't know your screen name, but you kicked ass. This was Sung's first time taking his GSA offroad. I remember my first offroad experience..I think I found a soft shoulder on the side of the road and thought I was amazing...

Trooper for sure

Assessing the damage on the way to Ubehebe Crater

Verdict: 2 broken aux lights, tweaked left turn signal, and that windshield will eventually need to be replaced $$$

But all known weak points on this bike. Otherwise it's a tank.

What a trooper though. Great attitude about it all. Hope you had a good time.

You've all seen pics of my spill... Still smiling!

Couldn't get the bike to go more than 4k rpm after the dump. A little investigating at Teakettle Junction......

Found this:

Big John doesn't look so big anymore:

So this is how TrailTrick averages 50+mph in the dirt:

Pics back at camp

anything tastes good after a long day of riding

These kinds of shots pretty much sum up what a weekend it was.... Thanks to all that made it happen.

...continued from pg 12

Day 2

I wake up to a novel new way to carry water on a 640A

The morning pilgrimage to the on site sanitation services begins

I pass this work of art and am immediately jealous

Brush my teeth, etc ... walk out only to meet Charlie the Bulldog. Petting action ensues ending in my having to return to the facilities to wash my hands once again.

I return to find RBA pulling his handlebars apart to realign them after the two drops on Mengel.

I jump into my shiny new outfit for the day - including RBA's helmet cam

We take off and I next stop at this sign ... I do not know why ... I just did

Right about now I am relying on getting some killer footage on my helmet cam so I skipped the still photos altogether until I crawled my way to the top of a hill that rejected all the other larger bikes. Am now surrounded by 200's, 250's and 425's. I feel awkward.

The view was totally worth the risk

God's country

Gratuitous poser shot

Artsy group shot

Little urban achiever award shot

Little urban achiever descent

One more beauty shot and we're off again

Some sad news ... RBA's helmet cam had crashed about a half hour into the ride and given the head unit was in my back pack I had no idea. What wasn't recorded? X-Games footage of Zing bombing the 1200 down some ridiculous road at 70mph. Did I mention he was trying to pop some wheelies as well? At one point, I must have caught 5 feet of air because I was looking down at the GS. All I have is this picture of the second runner up.

All together now and about to head into Beatty for a Casino lunch.

One more for the road ... a nicely camouflaged Dakar

We park our bikes in the Casino lot and run across this monster pulled over to the side. It must have been heading to an alternate fuel convention in Vegas cause we saw three more like it driving by.

RBA and TahoeACR never show up but we manage to have a fairly decent meal.

Titus next and Zing with a one gun salute. We broke off from the pack and ran ahead for the next half hour or so.

As you can tell from this picture, we missed the petroglyphs and 15 minutes later we were still alone.

I proceed to take more pictures of my bike ... forgive me

I must have been flying ... the stickers are coming off

We relent, backtrack and catch up with everyone

The main attraction ... Zing was not impressed

Guess who shows up after five minutes?

We shoot the breeze, take some more group photos and off we go.

Gratuitous Titus 1

Gratuitous Titus 2

We exit and after eating several pounds of dust following Sito, we arrive at the pavement

Cathy shows up next

I wanted to follow TahoeACR to Ubeube Crater, but my reserve light thought otherwise. I just sat there watching him power wheelie his 990 up the road not once, but twice.

We ride back to camp and proceed to swap SD cards. Also inspected the helmet cam footage and despite my best efforts the ride with Zing could not be salvaged.

Taking every opportunity to punish myself, I decide to pack up and leave that same night.

Before my departure, RBA cooks up some killer Mongolian BBQ

As we're about to start eating, Blair and Kona Dog show up.

Some of you might know Blair. He drives this monster and frolics about the country every single weekend.

Kona Dog is the star of my wildly popular "Kona Dog Nose Macro Series"

Kona proceeds to inspect my plate and walks away with a few treats

We hang out by the fire to reminisce

And Kona falls asleep...

I on the other hand, head off on my 497 mile return trip. i will leave you with this parting image of me about to drive into what can only be described as a cloud belonging in a Stephen King novel.

That's it folks. I hope you enjoyed the ride and I look forward to next year. Be on the lookout for a video compilation of what we could salvage from my helmet cam footage.

Happy trails!

Nicely done Justino!

I'm in the middle of editing the Mengal Pass footage and can't stop laughing as I listen to Zing at the top of the hill. We have it all on tape...

As everyone else is pointing out different lines and trying to move rocks, Zing in a Texan-like accent..."I'm not doing any of that tight turning bullshit...I'm just gonna go over, gonna scratch my new shit up and go straight."

good..no, GREAT times

Will be posting my pix soon. I had a GREAT time! Wish we had quarterly nOOb rides. Would have been nice to meet all you FFs.

Did I see a decal of this years nOOb ride? If anyone knows who's making them, I'd like a couple.
I'm already looking forward to doing this again next year!

My buddy said he woke up at 0200 with that dog licking his face . At first he thought he was being tasted by a coyote .

I told him his breath must've been so bad that the dog mistook my buddy's mouth for his ass.
