Kentucky covered bridges

Here are all the waypoints from the remaining 13 covered bridges in KY. They are linked together by a route that uses all backroads. This is a very senic ride that takes you back through the 1800's and is big bike friendly.

I've downloaded and viewed other GPX files but I can't view yours. Any hints?
I'm planning on doing the One Lap of Kentucky next year and would like to see a few of the bridges.

I'm old and slow and finally viewed it by this method:

A (really) quick way to look at GPX's attached to threads

A handy way to visually inspect the GPX files attached to any thread on the forums is to use the 'bookmarklet' from advmaps.com (a side-project of mine).

1 Check out http://www.advmaps.com/
2 Click 'About'
3 Drag the bookmarklet to your bookmarks toolbar

Now, just click the 'View GPS on Advmaps' bookmark whenever you're reading a thread with a GPX attachment to pop open a new window showing the GPS data.

Thanks to gfinder, it really works slick.

Here is the last one in SC, built in 1909. I'd upload a photo but not sure how yet.

I'm from Fleming Co. It's the covered bridge capital of KY.

I'm from Goddard...it's one of the few bridges in KY you can still drive over.

When i was very young my dad made me pee off that bridge over Tygart Creek along route 7. He said I could always say i peed off a covered bridge. Probably about time to make my claim to the rest of the 13 :-) Bout how long does this ride take? How many miles?

Starting in Crestwood and back was a little over 500 miles.

Sounds like a pretty nice ride that a motivated party could get done in a long day. Is it all asphault or are there some fun parts? I could take the Triumph but i just got a DR650 that really wants some attention.

To do it in one day, I don't think you'd be able to stop and actually look at the bridges. The roads are very curvey and slow going. Mostly all paved with a couple gravel roads thrown in. It took us two full days.

Trying to plan a covered bridge tour this weekend, on Saturday. We'll see 7 of the remaining bridges, leaving from near Cincinnati Int'l Airport.

PM me if interested
