I tried the Skidmarx but it put my ears right in the tumble zone so noise was literally deafening... If I raised my butt up outta the seat about 2.5" it was perfect, but I can't keep that up for long figured I needed either a couple inches shorter or taller. I want to keep my profile down, so I'm hoping that the
MRA @ 2" - 3" taller than stock F800GS will be ideal (14" - 15" tall) vs. 18" of the SkidMarx...

Huckleberry,
Don't your barkbusters hit the cee bailey?

Have you tried it yet??? Need to order something soon (for F800gs) as I am heading out for a while. My barkbusters seem they are going to hit everything except something that is close to stock width.

I couldn't find any MRA screens for the F800gs at the Depot. Did you find something I didn't?

They do hit but just barely the shield just barely moves then the bars hit the stops. So far it has not been a problem

I like the looks of the Cee Baily Tall Euro, but I am afraid it will be too short. Seems like I would still be getting buffeting right near my head.

The CalSci XL one sounds great and might work, but sure is Bfugly. I'm ok with the little hole though it though.

I am not a fan of an add on like the Lamiar Lip or some other such creations.

I scaned through every option on this thread so I am familir with most, but maybe I missed one of the other TALL screens. So what are my options? Any other tall riders out there with experience?

Thanks

Well, did you try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8t2qn8pGsY
They are developing something right now for F800GS and I believe it will be good. They have a wind tunnel and the guy who does it, is from Germany (I believe). Let me know what you think. My understanding that the adjustable one will run ~$300.

Aftermarket screens, waste of time

Honestly, after riding the GS8 for the past 6 months and trying a couple options - I've decided to save the money and time and deal with the stock windscreen. The LLip was horribly noise and I don't trust the myriad of touring screens out there that don't seem much taller.

I'm 6' so probably just over average height for riders on this bike, and am cool touring around with the bike knowing it's not a comfy street tourer, but an all around GS. I invested in a nice helmet and some fly removal ointment instead and like the open feel

...it also looks sorta strange on these bikes IMHO.

I too had the wunderlich on my 650 and it was great. I was disapointed
to here thats not the case with the tall screen for the 800.
Does anyone have pictures of there wunderlich? Is there anyone else out there that likes the wunderlich?

I'm with you, mototrionic. It's a bike that's meant to be taken off-road, and taller screens just don't work well in that environment. I almost got decapitated by a tall screen when I lurched forward on a whoop while standing on the pegs once on my WeeStrom. If it hadn't been for the chin bar on my helmet, I would have had my windpipe crushed for sure. So the extra ventilation is something I'm happy to deal with. Plus, as you say, the stock screen just looks better than all the Marge Simpsonesque monstrosities I see here.

Yup. I have one. Like was already mentioned, I had a Wunderlich tall screen on my F650GS Dakar single and loved it. I bought the tall W screen for this F800GS and don't like it much. It dumps the air right in my eyes and is very noisy. I'll keep in on until the weather warms up then put the stock windscreen back on.
