MRA Vario Touring Windshield ???

Have I missed commentary on the MRA Vario Touring Windshield, or isn't there any ...

http://f800depot.com/mra-vario-touri...smoked-gs.html

I like the low profile for off-road, the adjustability while riding is nice...
Just wondering if it works for a guy that is 6' 1" or so...

Rob, the owner of F800Depot, has some comments on it posted....

can you lock the handlebars with madstad + barkbusters?

madstad in the dirt
  • does it wobble/flex?
  • can it be lowered enough to get airflow so you dont get hot?
I think the answers are yes,no,yes. I want to make sure before I try it out though.
thx.

I don't have one, but beleive you are correct.
In addition you could just take the Madstat screen off completely and toss it behind a tree, leave it at base camp/home if it's a round-trip ride.

Last I heard, touratech does not touch, larger hand guards do but you can adjust most of it out by rotating the guards, adjusting the shield, etc.

It does flex in the dirt as do all tall windshields because they are mounted to the 800GS with rubber well nuts, and the clear shield is mounted with rubber isolation washers, I assume to absorb shock to the BMW plastic mounting points. It is rigid at highway speeds though..

The plastic shield can be taken off in under one minute with no tools. If you have a bundgie net, you can carry it on the tail.

Yeah. I Pm'd some folks and they told me that they were able to lock their handlebars with bark busters. The madstad screen sticks forward a bit, so there is more space for hand guards.
I ordered mine, it should be here next week.
Super excited!
Thx for the info.

Hey Dano,

Is there any particular reason that you're not mounting your GPS (or smartphone?) on the mounting area on the Mirage?

cheers,
Mark

I would love a mirage 2 but they are so expensive in Europe at CAN$ 677.00 via the official importer (adventure-spec.com). Would have to be VERY good at that price.

Is anyone running either the BMW Touring windshield or the Deseirto fairing with barkbusters? If so, is there sufficient clearance and can you please post a pic??
Thanks in advance.

I've been really happy with my MRA screen. I've got a couple thousand miles behind it now and it's performed well from low speed dirt and gravel rides to 90 mph highway jaunts.

I am looking for a shield and read some of what you'll said... I am wondering those who have tried different shields along with the Aeroflow... which shield he/she thinks is the best out of all shield have tested. I am looking into getting an Aeroflow shield and wondering if those who have tried diff shields and the Aeroflow if think the Aeroflow has been best... no off road but mostly touring.

Thanks in advance.
