unmentioned GS800 mods....

I haven't seen of anyone doing these mods on the new 800GS.
Anyone upgrade to HID?
Anyone alter the license plate holder? I think it would look much better if shorter and tighter to the rear end.

I put an Philips 35w d2 in the low beam and I chopped about an inch off the rear fender and moved it up about a bit

Didn't want to start a new topic...
So how about it, has anyone removed/Cut the HUGE license plate holder?

I've been searching the web for a shorter alternative to the long plate holder the 800gs comes standard with.
The thing is, the plate holder is also part of the tank cover. So i don't think it can be just removed.

Is there anyone who already got sick of it and trimed it?
If there's not any aftermarket solution, i'm willing to cut it, wich brings me to another question:
Would there be any problem with the electrics if i removed/sealed the wires that conect to the plate light bulb? Problems such as a pearmenent warnings on the onboard computer?


Why do they complicate!!!! Most bikes a couple of screws and that's it!

I run the Electronic Scott Oiler magnum tank mounted in the recessed pocket of the stock channel bracket you need to trim the plastic loops that hold the pump tank. It hides the tank perfectly and I mount the pump where the stock EPA canister is mounted next to the rear shock. Then I run the oiler feed line down to drip into a BRP Husaberg right side chain return guide mounted off and 1"x1" x 1/4" aluminum angle and mounted on 2 tapped bolt holes into the swingarm where the heavy raised bosses are located for a chain guide that the bean counters at BMW eliminated. I cant beleive that with 9" of suspension travel that more people have not derailed the chain at the rear sprocket. Running the chain tight to BMW spec is not a good idea IMO.

Anyone know of a full system or a mid system exhaust? I already have the slip on but I would like to remove my cat. I am sure it's been touched on somewhere but I don't care for rigged stuff that involves blow torches and drills.

When buying, indicate the year your motorbike was built.
Weight: Kg. 2,5 (standard manifolds kg. 3,8).

Hey Bartron.

I dont have the ability to post pictures. Someone can PM me an email address and I will gladly send some pics for someone to post here on the forum when I get home on the weekend. I really cant make kits since you need to drill and tap the swing arm. Anyone who can do that can make the angle bracket. I will post the BRP Husaberg 570 part people can order and make their mount just like mine. Stay tuned.

I removed the metal bracket with the reflectors and mounted the plate directly to the fender. This allowed me to also lose the extension block from the license plate lamp. If you look at pictures of the Euro bikes, that's how they are originally. The reflectors and such are a North American thing.
