I hear from lots of people who are, justifiably so, impressed with this report. Who wants to take the next step and actually plan a trip there. I for one REALLY want to go. I am thinking of renting a bike in Istanbul and ride thru Iran from there. 3 - 4 weeks maybe?? I have just started to explore this and what all is involved. A small group of 3 of 4 riders would be ideal I think. I am having some internet conversations with an agency in Iran that can help with visa's. It sounds doable, but with restriction for us US citizens (everybody else can do it with a lot less hassles). A guide may be mandatory. Again, I have no idea yet how this would all work, but if i wanted to travel easy I would go to Kansas.

Who is interested in finding out with me if it can be done and has time to do so, possibly this fall.

This report has my vote for #1 Ride Report for 2009. Until I see another this one takes home the trophy! Seeing true unbiased reports like these from real people really warm me up. You dont get the one sided story of Iran through my governments eyes (America). You are shedding a lot of light on people eyes. At least for me anyways. IRAN is something very foreign to me and a lot of Americans.

Not wanting to hijack this excellent thread, but the groundwork has been done for USA riders, one tour has already successfully completed, and you might use

An Iranian govt approved agency/ guide & itinerary IS necessary for USA riders (unless there is a signifcant improvement in relations with new prezes on both sides )

If Motodiscovery's schedule/ pricing/ details don't work for you, ask them to put you in touch with their Turkish/ Istanbul guide-partner to discuss your requirements. Be prepared for a lot of pre-planning complications.

But as Meto's thread shows, Iran is a fascinating/ wonderful ride !

It's very good to see that the thread motivated you. Iran is a real beauty. I wish it was easier for you. But as you say, it's been done before and you can do it again.

There are 2 - 3 hours of helmet cam and 13 hours of HD video recorded.
We are looking for a way to edit and publish a 1 or 2 DVD movie.
I will keep you posted.

Ben www.rideturkey.com sitesinden aldim. Once bu siteye uye olman gerekiyor. Keyfli bir sitedir ayrica. Uye olduktan sonra forumlar altinda GPS bolumunde, Dunya haritasi ile ilgili bolumu ve indirmek, kurmak icin gereken bilgileri bulabilirsin.
