Skooba,

Here is a place in Mexico you won't believe: Xilitla. It's in the Jalpan region of the Sierra Gorda.

And, if you can phonetically (without any help ) you are a true linguist!

The Yucatan has long been on my list of places to explore. Most Americans only know it from Cancun/Cozumel and/or Playa del Carmen. Maybe they've taken a bus tour of one of the ruins. In four weeks time, I hope to be gunning from Campeche to San Cristobal to Mahahual.

Slinging the Gulf Coast of Mexico and sampling the seafare is also high on the list

Re Mexico and her culture - do you recognize this quote?:

"Walking about my hometown, I find myself wanting to bellow out a big hearty "buenos dias" to people I meet in the street, but this would likely startle more than please. Craving a jolt of Mexico, I flip on a Spanish-speaking radio station to buff the edge off. It works. The soft-spoken language poors though the speakers with those rolling Rs tickling my spirit. Sealing the windows Igrin and crank the volume and laugh out loud, imagining how strange it would be to see a big tatooed viking rocking out to the Latin top forty. I can't help it; I love the language as much as the culture and am already homesick as as hell for Mexico."

I feel this way every time I return from Mexico. I wish I could have written this, but I found it here:

Mazatlan...I'll be back

Thanks for throwing me in there at the end, Arte!

Hey - PM me where I can find the Aduana in Reynosa....I kind of remember but I want to shoot straight to it the first week in February.

Or, look for my big yellow helmet and we'll visit a bit before or after the Aduana drill.

And Arte, if we both end up in Mazatlan, I'll spring for the fantastic shrimp at this place:
