Okay 1911 guys, what's your opinion on Knighthawk Custom?
I have the chance to buy either/or a Wilson CQB and a Vickers Knighthawk custom.
The Wilson is slightly used, and the KH is probly not even broke in yet.

I bought this rifle in the early 90's from a drug store near Manitou Springs, CO. It is a Ruger Model 77 Mark II chambered in 270 Win, boat paddle stock (Ruger no longer makes it). I bought it cause it was cheap and I didn't have much money back then. I can afford a nicer deer rifle now but I hang onto this one because it works. I went deer hunting with a friend yesterday - he had a Savage chambered in 270 Win, which he also bought a long time ago cause it was cheap - he holds onto it because it works for him also.

I'd get a used Wilson over a new Nighthawk. Nighthawk was some of Bill Wilsons employees who thought they could make a better 1911. God info at 1911forums.com.

That guy was actually Bill Wilson's lead gunsmith for a number of years, during the period when Wilson was gaining his rep for quality. He's featured in their 1911 dis-assembly/maintenance video.

Having met them both. Ron (can't remember his last name) seemed like a nice guy. edit-Removing my personal assessment of Bill Wilson's demeanor-edit over.

I have no idea how you assess the difference between $4000 1911's, but I can't imagine there's much.

Lay a Baer, Brown, Wilson and a Nighthawk on a table and Ray Charles can pick out the Baer. All good guns but Baers are tight. Not a bad thing just how they are made. For the money two Dan Wessons would be nice too.

I didn't know where else to post it nor did I want to make its own thread, so I figured you gun guru's would get a kick both out of the boom sticks and of the history/photography.
