No kidding, they look the same but are two completely different guns. One is relaxing and cheap to shot, the other is quite the opposite!

One of these followed me home this week. Cabela's on sale for $99.99. This is an unusal revolver in that it is a gas seal revolver. Shoots just great.....

This not mine, mine says CCCP 1927.....

I picked up a new rifle this week. Ruger 77/357. ~5.5 lbs w/o the scope.

I had the Redfield 2-7x33 on my series 197 Mini-14 which was pretty much a waste anyway.

The difference in the energy transferred to the bullet when compared to the GP100 is pretty amazing. Nearly double in 4 out of 5 factory rounds tested.

This is a chart from a review on realguns.com.

Range report later this weekend if it stops raining.

Watched the "Family Guns" episode last night featuring the Hotchkiss revolving cannon with more than usual interest, because of something I picked up as a Barn Find this summer. They showed the base of the shell case they used, noting that it was date-stamped "1916". Bah! Mine's older.

And, mine has the projectile.
I once asked a friend "At what size do you stop calling it a 'bullet'?" He said "When it hurts if you drop it on your foot."

W/ a .45 for size comparison.

In it's usual place in one of my cabinets. For another size comparison, behind it are two .50-cal mounted on a piece of Trench Art (supposed to be a picture mount?) from WWII made by my Great Uncle Chester.

It's unloaded. The projectile is loose enough that it will fall out if inverted. Just something neat for one of the Cool Crap shelves.

Which way to the "I Love This Cannon" thread?

Those are the only revolvers you can actually put a silencer on and have it work.

How does the "gas seal" work?

As you pull the trigger it rotates the cylinder and then moves it forward pressing it against the forcing cone on the barrel to make a seal.
