The CIA played around with Dan Wesson revolvers with silencers. The design of the Dan Wessons allowed them to close the cylinder gap to almost nil- which made the silencers work pretty well (at least for a few rounds until the cyclinder got hot and locked up.)

Nice! I've been thinking about one of those with a reflex sight for a truck gun. I have a lever action .357 and reload specifically for it. I am able to get 158 gr XTPs to over 2100fps without undue pressure using fast rifle powders (2400, 110 and 4227). Typical factory loads are optimized for 6" barrels, so they don't translate to max velocity in a rifle barrel.

Today I put the first few rounds in my Marlin XT-22VR and find out how much fun is to shot at 200 yards with a .22.
Scope sighted @ 75 yards, for 200 yards I have to aim 2 fts higher and wait almost 2 seconds to hear the bullet hit the metal!
Probably was luck (IT WAS LUCK) but I hit dead center my little 3" target at 200 yards..ONCE!!!
LOT OF FUN!!!

Did you do much shopping and what made you pick the Silencerco? Someone told me they are the best rimfire suppressor, regardless of price and the price isn't that bad. I'm not that well educated on the "best" suppressor for my rimfire. I've got a 3.5" pistol and 16" rifle that I'd use it on.

This will be my first. I made a choice based only on some online research. From some reports the best thing about the Sparrow is its relative ease of cleaning based on its ability to be taken apart and the stainless steel construction.

Yep, I've read/heard it's very easy to clean for a rimfire suppressor. Seems the first shot is a bit louder than others, but a little water or follow ups are quieter.

I keep mine well lubricated with gun oil or ultra sound gel. Avoid using water or anything that contains water (barbasol, etc)

RE,

I'm trying to educate myself about using the Sparrow while I wait on the paperwork. Why the admonition about using water based wetting agents? I think Silencerco's website says you can use up to 5cc of water,wire pulling lube, etc.

And you think i may be in for a 10 month wait? Oh well, I need a little time to pickup a couple of guns with threads anyway.

Water pours out of the end of the can easily, plus it causes things to oxidize quickly. Oil/gel Will stay in place, even with the can pointed downwards.
