I've had a couple of them. The 22 winmag is a snappy little round. They are tiny and I carried mine as a GTFOM gun for awhile but got continuosly nervous when I regularly found the chamber would rotate off the "safe" mark and I'd find the hammer sitting on the round.

I find the Kahr PM series (9 or 40) to be a much better pocket carry even though I had to give up a little stealth.

I would like to try black powder....I just have not jumped in yet.
I'm looking at the Cimarrons (rebadged Ubertis) most of them will handle normal power cartridges without any trouble as long as it's a full frame with a top strap.

I read on a few other sites people shooting buffalo bore .38spl and .357 loads out of theirs with no trouble and carrying them as a trail gun.

Who makes repro's that fire modern cartridges? More than 1 company? I love those old style revolvers, but I didn't want to mess with caps and powder.

His birthday isn't for a couple of weeks but he'll want to shoot it as soon as I give it to him. It sounds like these things are built like a brick shit house but I figured I'd better check the head space before letting him fire it. I'm too cheap to pay for a set of gages so tonight I chucked up a piece of mystery metal out of the scrap bucket and turned a field gage and milled clearance for the extractor. The bolt only closed about half way on it. I figure I'll keep shaving 0.001" at a time off it and see where the bolt closes, but at least I know the gun is safe to shoot.

Look up Cimarron Arms and/or Uberti firearms. You can get both modern cartridge and black powder cartridge/cylinder setups.

Edit:

Here's a link.

Picked up a project Remington 700 Varmint Special in .22-250. Near as I can tell it was made in 1974.

Had a Hogue stock lying around, removed the Leupold Base & rings.

Badger Ordnance 20 moa base & Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3x-10x mil/mil scope showed up today.

Hope it shoots.

Uberti Schofield break-top in 45 Colt. I posted pics of this gun before, but it was a while back and, in the meanwhile, have had a lot of fun with it, shoot fairly mild mid-range handloads with lead SWC bullets. Light recoil and very accurate. My girlfriend's teenage son likes to shoot this better than any other handgun. Uberti makes them in 38 Special and 44/40 as well as the 45. I'd love to have a 38, but don't need two and they aren't inexpensive.

I also like the Ruger New Vaqueros a lot. I have one in 357 and would like to pick one up in 45 Colt to go with the Uberti Schofield. Fun stuff.
