I would not feel underarmed with a 500 S&W Magnum, not one of the "snubbies" as they lose velocity rapidly as the barrel gets shorter, but one of the 5" John Ross models or a standard 8 3/8" original model, against any critter on the North American continent within, say, 75 yards. I used one on a nice sized buck back in '03 and it literally flattened him. DRT. But, as they say, a miss with a 50BMG isn't as lethal as a hit with a 22.

Springfield scope mount with Springfield Armory 4-14X56 3rd Gen Government Model scope. I'll have to look on the cheek piece and see if it has a name on it. X, what is front element, I'm kinda ignert on scopes?

Springer scopes have like a 50mm front element, (lens) so look out of proportion. Made my Haako in Japan, they are a great scope and have a ton of useable features for the money! I love the (if this is your model) fact they have a level in the scope you can see when you are shooting to make sure you aren't canting, and they are front curtian zoom meaning the mil dots are accurate at all zoom ratios, unlike rear curtain which are usually only accurate at max zoom.

Do you have the mil dot one or the one with the 7.62 bullet drop compensator in it? BDC one is great.

what do you think of this set up for zombies ,it's not my marlin 36,i have the 36bl this is a 36a .I'm not a fan of scopes .

Those ATn scopes are pretty good, and would be great on a Marlin lever gun......all they really are is a good fast electronic iron sight to a point......

I think it's the BDC, I printed some info off the web about it, so I'll have to let you know. From what I know about mil dot, I don't think that's it.

if when you look thru it it has a scale on the lower center reticle, then it is a bulet drop compensator. If it has solely a thin retical with dots for windage and range, it is a mil dot. Haako made both.....so it can be either. I can also say the BDC is calibrated to the gun shooting Federal Gold Medal Match with 168gr BTHP rounds.
