I was ready to pull the oil/water pump when I thought of this...



Then I could get to and see what I needed to.

Yep! *hitchs thumbs in overalls*

All done, assembled, torqued down and filled with Lucus oil treatment and oil.

I used many combinations of these to get that o-ring in.

PS- I'm doing thebungee upgrade on my K75's panniers STAT. Nice innovations all around, love the work on the light mounting setup.

I may have very well messed up.


I suspect I have an oil pressure problem.

These are the symptoms:
1. If I accelerate quickly, the oil light comes on briefly, then goes out.
2. If it's one the sidestand at idle, the light comes on, but if I rev the engine, the light goes off.

These are very consistant.

What's worse is between the time the light goes off at idle and the time it comes back on, the valve clatter increases. As soon as I rev the engine and the light goes off, the vavle clatter stops.

So, what the heck!
I'm in this deep ........ again.

And I know it's leaking and needs replacing AND I know I'll have better luck seating the o-ring.

Off goes the pump.

Note the bowed o-ring.



After the oil pump was out of the way and I had the RIGHT BMW o-ring, it popped right in pretty as you please. .


While I was there I replaced the oil pressure plug.





Do you know that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when you strip the threads on an engine block?

Well, when that crush washer 'crushed' it felt just like that. *shiver*

It looks like the next little project is the rear main seal
