The route is all pavement but it is the best set of twisties anywhere in the state (and beyond) by far.

The registrations is FREE. The organizers got some pretty good specials on Rooms, a Coffee shop and a Café on the route (even a discount on gas ) plus they are doing some prizes as well.

You can get all the information HERE.

Thanks for posting this. If I'm not working, I'll do the run on my SV. At least that bike works!!

I joined up with some of the other ADVer's to go camping up north for a few days. After making it almost 35 miles south of Flagstaff yesterday, I had no choice but to turn around & limp the XRL home. No power in 5th gear left me traveling I17 at speeds ranging from 60 and BELOW!

Of course, 80% of the ride was in the rain, pouring at times. I rode ~150 miles home, in the dark, with a crappy headlight. Nice.

Spencer tried his best, a rest stop complete carb inspection/cleaning, but that obviously wasn't the problem. I'll try to have it figured out and ready for the 'Long Way Up Trip.

I'm sure someone will post some pix of the bike, all apart at the rest area. Gave it our best shot. Maybe next time.

As for the Devil's Hwy., I'm in unless I get called back to work.

wow. Sounds like you had a crap of a time
this weekend so far. Sorry to hear about
you bike. Hope it is something simple!!!

Karla and I are planning to leave here
Friday. We took the entire day off Friday
so assuming we get our bikes ready
early enough we are planning to leave
before the valley gets too hot Friday AM.
I am in the process of buying camping
supplies but they will not be here
by then. We got a room at the
Rode Inn in Springerville. If you
are off Friday and want to meet up
for the ride up PM me. Or let us
know when you plan to get in to
Springerville and we can meet up
dinner or a drink or whatever.

Sounds good. Not working right now. Riding up together would be cool. I didn't get a reservation yet. Maybe going the camping route to save money. Don't know yet ... still looking into options. And watching the weather!

Hey Robin and Laurie,
Sorry I couldn't make the Tech Day today, I had to work on the Oink so it would pass emissions. I got'r done. It passed and is street legal again.
I'm probably not going to be making Starbuck's in the AM. Logan has put a ride together for NY Gary http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454177
We will be meeting @ 8:00am:
Logan's Valley Motorcycles
1440 W Main St in Mesa.
Everyone is welcome. We will be riding up to Roosevelt Dam via Tortilla Flats (stopping to have breakfast or early lunch) and then???. . It should be a fun ride. The last one was, when Mr. Cob was here. A lot of Urals (quite a spectacle) and 2 wheelers will be showing up.

oh yeh i'll still be wearing it. i might even buy the right color of tape. but nothing on me matches so cammo duck tape will do just fine. this wasn't even one of those forbiddon trails i was telling you about. this one was easy i'm almost although there is only one set of tracks on that hill. i found a new mine/cave up there. i know no one's been back there in a while cause i was riding over and around nee hi bushes. but there's room to turn 5 or so bikes around at the cave opening

Nice meeting you guys this am

Hey,
it was good meeting you guys this morning. Thanks for the info on the Canyon trip and the ride later this summer.

Had a real nice ride, all tarmac unfortunately, today up to Bartlet and Horshoe Dam. Just too many people camping and rangers out to go exploring, but sometimes ashphalt is good too.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome, and please don't hold it against me that I ride a Dakar....
