I did my SS1000 on my 2001 Triumph Tiger, in the rain. We did 4 corners of PA, close to 1100 miles, 23 hours. We started with a fairly large group (for a SS1000 ride) and the riders without proper rain gear dropped like flies. For whatever reason, I was in the groove that day, wasn't even tired when I got home. That Tiger was great for long rides!

So is anyone else thinking of trying the SS1k? I really want to do one but not by myself and definitely not now with the gas prices the way they are.

I could probably be talked into doing another. Phoenix to Las Cruces to Albuquerque to Flagstaff to Phoenix, 1085 miles, 17 hours.

I did a 1000 mile day in my RV, Virginia to Texas. Started in 2 inches of snow in Virginia. There were cars scattered along the interstate all the way down to Tennessee!

There wasn't much time for picture taking. The only one I took ws of the turn around point in Sierra Blonca, Tx for documentation to have the ride sanctioned. I have all of the fuel reciepts with date and time stamps, and a Subway reciept form Las Cruses, NM. Going to send all the fuel reciepts copies, food reciepts, Turn around photo, and witness statements and route maps in today to the Iron Butt folks to get the ride sanctioned.
The ride was on my friend's "Bucket List" I told him I would go with him when he wanted to do it. For me it was kind of a 'Right of Passage" type thing. I'm not going to do it again.
My next thing is the Trans America Trail or at least part of it, or the Shadow of the Rockies Trail.

An 1K Ironbutt was on my list of things to do this summer.

After knocking out 750 miles in a day last year, getting off the bike and feeling fresh as a daisy, I thought I'd give it a go.

I had a route planned out which was all within the state of Az., but i can't find the damn screen shot I took off Google Maps now.

I also had a partial DS Ironbutt I had been pondering.

A true 1000 mile dirt route would be quite the accomplishment. Logistics would be the most difficult portion. So who is up for the challenge?

Anybody up for a dual sport PHX./ Prescott to Laughlin over night then Laughlin to Barstow via Mojave Trail. Over night in Barstow, back to Laughlin, over night & home?

The PMRG, that's Phoenix Motorcycle Riders Group is doing a ride on April 14. Check 'em out. They're good people even though they like the pavement. Jim
