I'm taking the wife with me tomorrow. Probably take the road on the west side of lake Pleasant over to Wickensberg for lunch. If you want to go let me know. Castle hot springs rd I believe it's called.

Arizona Trail Riders Howling at the Moon 2012 is next weekend.

I'm camping at Houston Mesa campground and have an extra spot if anyone is interested.

The campground has latrines and showers and is located 1.5 miles north of the Elks Lodge which is the start of the ride.

PM me if you are interested in sharing the spot.

Just a quick shout out to dillon at zen moto. My bike performed perfectly at turkey creek, my first ride in about four months. Me, not so much! I got hung up on this sandy uphill and needed like four tries to make it.

Thanks for the great service, and I know it'll do great at howlin at the moon this weekend.

Question Good area to practice sand riding

Hey folks, I am doing my 2nd LA-Barstow-Vegas ride this year, and the 17 miles of deep sand kicked my butt last year. (KLR650)
So, now I have a WR, and I'm looking for advice on where to find some deep sand to practice in, hopefully within 50 miles or so of Mesa. Any advice?
Thanks in advance,

Garry (from Gilbert)

Do you ever get tired of sitting in your front yard on the bike 24/7?

Go out to Sycamore. You can take the Usery Pass, make a right on Bush HWY until you reach the Beeline.

At the intersection of the Beeline and Bush I'm not sure if you can stage out of there but if not you could stage at Pobrecito which is about half a mile from the Beeline.

There's a huge sand wash leading from NF-403 with a bunch of trails out there.

Hassyampa River bed is good also. North of I-10 or north of Wickenburg. Deeper and softer sand than Sycamore area (IMHO).
