I never liked that side stand, and maybe have used it a dozen times in the past 8 years. The bike leans over way too far to the left. The one time when I really need it, the friggin' thing breaks as I'm dismounting.

Casey (JPF Metalworks) (480) 430-3912

He is near Broadway and Country Club. Excellent welder.

You'll have to forgive jtwest, as he is used to the epic lip-flapping that happens over in the Northwest Arkansas BS thread.

I shit you not- they log in and start gabbing first thing in the am and tuck each other in bed at night. "Night, John boy." "Night, Pa."
Over 1000 pages of senseless dribble.

Good luck with the move, dude. Guess that means we won't see you at SLAP next year.

Hey, Jim was my first thought as I posted this.

But.....

Do you have stock to make a new stud, get the pivot's bearing surface to the correct diameter, thread it, etc?

Also, can you cleanly remove the old stud to make room for the new one?

remove the old stud? no way man, i prefer the experience and maturity of the old ones. besides have you tried to have a conversation with a young stud?

scott, maybe i misunderstood the problem, i thought the pivot stud simply ripped out of the frame mount and i was just gonna straighten it out and weld it back in.

Nah. The pivot stud is toast. It broke off, leaving almost no threads. It has to be removed and replaced.

I made it back in one piece. A little over 8000miles in 15 days.
Bikes on trip: 990, wee strom, two KLR's

I don't write reports so here's the highlights:
- I fed potato chips to an Arctic Fox
- I was charged by a grizzly bear
- An Idaho pig gave me a ticket
- I reluctantly gave blood in the Yukon
- The Dempster Highway is amazing
- The moon was shown to a passanger train along the Fraser River
- I have wheelied in 3 different countries, including 2 provinces and one territory in Canada.
- Wheelies take a toll on the clutch pack of a fully loaded 500+ pound bike with 40,000 miles.
- Splitting lanes in California rush hour traffic on a fully bagged bike is a rush!

Wow! Do you have a link to the route you took? 500+ mile days seems like a lot! I would love to do something like this though.
